Minneapolis Fox Station's The Jason Show Expands to Chicago

The Jason Show is set to debut in Chicago. The hour long entertainment and talk show will debut on Fox-owned station WPWR (My50) on June 5 at 11 a.m. and air weekdays through August 11. The Jason Show launched on Minneapolis Fox owned station KMSP in August 2015. Over the past eight years, it has expanded its reach to Eau Claire and LaCrosse Wisc., Rochester and Duluth, Minn., and most recently, the Fox-owned station in Seattle, KZJO. The show had additional limited runs on Fox-owned stations in Los Angeles, Dallas, and Phoenix. “Jason has been brightening mornings throughout the Midwest and beyond for years," said Marian Davey, senior vice president and general manager of KMSP in Minneapolis. "Now, just like his theme song says, ‘Let’s make it a good day’ for Chicagoland too.” Hosted by Fox 9 entertainment news anchor and radio host, Jason Matheson, the program features segments ranging from Hot Dish to Hollywood and interviews celebrities and experts who share their tips on food, fitness and fashion. Popular segments will continue, such as Fish out of Water, where Jason goes beyond his comfort zone to attempt the unexpected, from signing up for a Civil War reenactment, to learning woodworking, and working at the zoo for a day. In addition, for this limited summer run, the Chicago native will produce a series of stories that Spotlight Chicago and connect the Windy City to the Twin Cities and the rest of the Midwest. Matheson joined KMSP in 2000 as producer for the daily entertainment segment The Buzz which aired throughout the station’s 9 p.m. newscast. He became an on-air presence during Good Day Minnesota providing pop culture reports and interviewing Hollywood’s biggest stars for the morning program. In 2009, when KMSP launched the entertainment news program Fox 9 Buzz, Matheson was named co-host, as well as co-host for the early morning hours of the Fox 9 Morning News. He also co-hosts the morning drive time radio show, Jason & Alexis with Alexis Thompson, on KTMY MyTalk 107.1. “I’m so proud to connect my adopted hometown of the Twin Cities with my home of Chicago and bring our own wacky brand of daytime TV to the Windy City,” said Matheson.
