Another reason to visit Bali: GWK statue completed after three decades

Agoda recently revealed Bali as one of 2018’s top destinations in Asia.  One could always do with another reason to visit the beautiful island – After almost thirty years in the making, the majestic Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) statue is finally completed and a must-visit especially for culture and history buffs.

Located in the GWK Cultural Park in Badung, the iconic 21-story high monument depicts Hindu deity Vishnu riding the legendary bird Garuda, and is 30 meters higher than the Statue of Liberty, designed to be Indonesia’s tallest statue.

The statue is not the only highlight of the 60-hectare area. Visitors can easily spend a full day at the park with the many ongoing events and attractions.

Enjoy cultural performances such as Legong, a dance traditionally performed for royalty, rent a segway to roam around the picturesque park, or bring your children to daily screenings of award-winning animated film, “Garuda Cilik”. Not just for day visits, the park also comes alive at night with live music and dancing.

Visit the GWK Cultural Park at ease and stay at one of the many accommodation options in the south of Bali. Here are three Agoda Homes to consider for your next trip:

  1. With three bedrooms and a private pool, Villa Luna Ungasan is a spacious villa great for families or groups of friends traveling together and just 12 minutes’ drive from GWK.
  2. Pandawa Cliff Ocean Front Private Luxury Villa is the ideal accommodation to spend the day in after visiting the park. Pamper yourself by enjoying personal butler service and in-house spa, or take in the spectacular view from the two infinity pools overlooking the Indian Ocean.
  3. Located in a serene environment on a hill, Putri Hawila Villa provides a car and driver, so you can easily access nearby attractions like the Waterbom water theme park or Ganesha Gallery.
