The senior officers of the Crop Extension Division of the Ministry of Agriculture have been reminded of their duty to maintain food security, improve the livelihood of farmers and support the national economic recovery.

The Acting Head of Agriculture Operations and Services, Dr Tekini Nakidakida while addressing the Crop Extension staff at the third quarter meeting at Lomaiviti Provincial Council Hall in Levuka, Ovalau yesterday, urged them to engage the landowners to utilize their land to increase local production and reduce imports.

Dr Nakidakida encouraged the staff to keep cooperating to drive the agriculture sector forward according to the government’s plan.

“Have trust in your officers and their capabilities. Believe in your own capabilities and make the right decision; do what you believe is right and don’t be distracted by criticism.”

“Criticism will be there, take them constructively because it shapes and builds you to be a better person,” he said.
