McDonald’s looks to hire about 7,050 restaurant employees this summer across its Alabama locations.
And the fast food giant isn’t just interested in students looking to make some money away from school. McDonald’s is planning what it terms “a multi-generational hiring push” this summer through a collaboration with AARP and AARP Foundation.
Current job postings will be featured on AARP’s job board, while McDonald’s will work with the AARP Foundation on a pilot program to align candidate job needs with employers. The pilot will start in five states - Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri and North Carolina - before rolling out nationwide later this summer.
In addition, McDonald’s employees become eligible after 90 days and 15 hours a week for the company’s education and career advising program, “Archways to Opportunity.” They have the chance to earn a high school diploma, receive $2,500 in upfront college tuition assistance, access to free education and career advising services and the opportunity to learn English as a second language. McDonald’s says it has given out more than $762,000 in tuition assistance and supported 382 restaurant workers in Alabama.
