A red-billed hornbill has gone missing at the Birmingham Zoo. Staff are asking anyone who spots it to give them a call.
Zoo spokesman Clark Maxwell said the bird went missing at about 10 a.m. Wednesday. It stayed on zoo property and within the sight of zoo staff throughout the day.
Wednesday's search had to be postponed because of a lack of light. It resumed Thursday morning but with no luck.
Staff is asking the Homewood and Mountain Brook communities to be on the lookout.
Anyone who sees the missing bird is asked to call the Birmingham Zoo at 205-879-0409.
