Three B-1B Lancers assigned to the 345th Expeditionary Bomb Squadron stand ready on the ramp at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska, Sept. 12, 2020. The unit used only three bombers to launch 19 sorties and attain a 100 percent mission effectiveness rating while in support of a Bomber Task Force there. The lean package highlighted the agility and operational flexibility of the Bomber Task Force mission to respond to any potential crisis or challenge across the globe. U.S. Airmen assigned to the 345th Expeditionary Bomb Squadron conduct a BTF missions from Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska, Sept. 15 and 16. The missions were conducted over the Sea of Okhost, located between Russian and Japan. BTF mission routinely perform missions in the Pacific and European theaters to support National Defense Strategy (NDS) objectives of strategic predictability and operational unpredictability by using a mix of different types of bomber platforms to and from various dispersed U.S. bases and other departure and arrival points.
