Former 1960s Cold War era Royal Air Force Avro Vulcan B2 jet bomber plane serial number XL426 arrived at Southend for preservation in 1986 and is now in the hands of the Vulcan Restoration Trust charity. The Trust held a special event at the airport for supporters and visitors culminating in high-speed runs along the airport’s runway in the evening.
