Namely the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Privacy Act) and Australian Privacy Principles.
ALDI Stores recognises the importance of privacy and our respect for our customers’ and other individuals’ right to privacy of their personal information is paramount. We have policies and procedures to ensure that all personal information is handled by us in accordance with applicable privacy laws.

ALDI Stores collects and holds personal information about individuals including customers, employees, contractors, agents and other individuals. We only collect personal information that is reasonably necessary for our functions and activities.
Personal information collected and held may include but is not limited to:

- Gender
- Email address
- Postal address
- Phone number
- Usage and interaction data
- Information collected through CCTV cameras, and
- Other identifiers or identification and/or information about your use of our products and services
How we collect and hold personal information
ALDI Stores collects and holds personal information directly from individuals when they interact and or transact with us. This includes but is not limited to when using our websites, communicating with us or requesting customer service, participating in promotions, completing and submitting forms, visiting ALDI Stores sites, or making a purchase. From time-to-time ALDI Stores may collect personal information about individuals from third parties including from social media, public registers, a purchased list, online directly and anyone authorised to act on your behalf.

- Subscribing to the ALDI Stores email newsletters
- Shopping with us
- Browsing our websites
- Participating in competitions
- Visiting ALDI Stores sites in person
- Voice recordings of telephone conversations

- Camera surveillance may record footage and other information which may identify an individual
Generally, you have no obligation to provide personal information requested by us. However, if you do not provide us with the personal information requested or if that information is incomplete or inaccurate, we may not be able to supply products or services you request, communicate with you or provide you with the experience you want with us.
Tracking technology
We may use cookie technology on our websites to provide information and services to website visitors. Cookies are pieces of information that a website transfers to your computer’s hard disk for record keeping purposes and are a necessary part of facilitating online transactions. We may also use mobile phone technology to track your movement within certain ALDI stores for the purpose of optimising the merchandising and layout of our stores. If you do not wish to participate you can turn off Bluetooth and WiFi capability on your mobile device.
Employee Records
The handling of employee personal information already held by ALDI Stores is exempt from the Privacy Act if it is directly related to a current or former employment relationship. For information about our practices relating to the handling of employee records, please contact us directly.

Storage of personal information
ALDI Stores may hold personal information electronically (including on secure servers in controlled facilities) and in hardcopy. ALDI Stores has a range of physical and technical security measures in place to protect personal information from misuse, loss or unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. This includes but is not limited to access controls, network security, physical security, privacy policies, procedures and training programs, and encryption.
Purposes for which we collect, hold, use and disclose personal information
ALDI Stores, collects, holds, uses and discloses personal information to process and deliver products and services, communicate with your, customise and personalise your experience with us, effectively operate and innovate our business. This includes but is not limited to:
- Managing requests for products and services
- Distribution and delivery of direct marketing communications including the ALDI Stores email newsletter
- Communicating with you about our products, services and promotions
- Creating a personalised website experience
- Complaints handling
- Requesting and/or responding to feedback or concerns
- Managing property and supplier enquiries
- Working with service providers,
- Interacting with regulators, and
- Complying with our legal obligations.
Personal information may also be used as input for Artificial Intelligence tools.
Direct marketing
Personal information (other than sensitive information) maybe used for direct marketing purposes of you have consented to receive direct marketing communications or would reasonably expect that your personal information will be used for direct marketing purposes. You will be made aware of the right to unsubscribe or opt out in each direct marketing communication.
Sharing of personal information
ALDI Stores may share personal information with related bodies in the ALDI South Group, suppliers and other third parties (e.g. service providers) that work collaboratively with us or who deliver functions or activities on our behalf. We may also share personal information when required or permitted by law (e.g. police and courts).
In the course of our business, we use a range of service providers to help us maximise the quality and efficiency of our services and business operations. This means that individuals and organisations outside of ALDI Stores may sometimes have access to personal information held by ALDI Stores and may use this on behalf of ALDI Stores. We require our suppliers and service providers to adhere to strict privacy guidelines and not to keep this information or use it for any unauthorised purpose.
Features and functionality provided by third parties; third party terms.
Certain parts of the content, features and functionality on the sites may be owned and operated by third parties (collectively, “Third Party Providers”). Where indicated, such content, features and functionality, including the Gift Card Balance Check (collectively, “Third Party Content”), may be subject to separate terms and conditions. In that event, you acknowledge that these Australian Terms of Use will not apply to your use of the Third Party Content and that you will be subject to and comply with the terms of use offered by such Third Party Providers. You acknowledge that we are not responsible or otherwise for liable Third Party Content or the acts or omissions of Third Party Providers and that any claims or other causes of action available to you in connection with either of the foregoing will be brought against the applicable Third Party Provider(s) and not us.
ALDI Stores does not usually disclose personal information to overseas recipients. However, in some cases we may us third party service providers with overseas facilities to process or back-up information and, as a result, we may transfer your personal information to these overseas facilities for storage. In any instance where personal information is disclosed to an overseas recipient, ALDI Stores takes all reasonable steps to ensure they handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles, or substantially similar law or binding scheme that would provide a comparable or higher level of protect to that provided by the Australian Privacy Principles.
Access to and correction of personal information.
You have a right to access the personal information we hold about you. You also have a right to request corrections to personal information we hold about you if you believe it is inaccurate, out-of-date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading. If you would like to access personal information we hold about you or wish to have your personal information corrected, please contact us in writing.
When making a request, please provide all relevant details. We will respond to your request in a reasonable period of time (usually within 30 days). Before providing access to or correcting any personal information we may require proof of identity
