I was born in Bolton, and as a boy tried to be a rockstar. On the rebound, I studied philosophy.
Bouncing off odd jobs from finance to guitar teaching, with luck I became an early employee at The Student Housing Company. TSHC was acquired for ±£1.6bn. Luckier still, I joined Entrepreneurs First as their first employee, eventually setting up and running EF across Asia. EF raised hundreds of millions of dollars in funding and created an investment portfolio worth tens of billions. I then started a streaming site. We reached thousands of streamers, >100k MAUs, and millions of views. My luck ran out, though, and we couldn’t grow further. Thankfully, startups are easier said than done, and I’ve been advising and investing in companies for more than 10 years now.
I like to make music, write articles, play chess, and learn languages. I tend to move around, and have lived in the UK, Germany, Canada, Japan, Singapore, the Netherlands, and the USA.
