From Caprile take the Val Fiorentina road which immediately starts to climb as soon as you enter the wood. Go around the house that stands solitary on the imposing rocky spike then follow the steep bends to reach the Bus del Diaol viewpoint, where you should stop for a moment to enjoy the view over Caprile. A clearing leads almost immediately to Lagusello and then Pian, where you can make a detour to see the centuries-old fir tree in Pragrant. Legend has it that Carducci stopped to rest in the shade of this tree before climbing Cima Fertazza. Pian has been well-preserved and has some excellent examples of mountain architecture, testimony of the economies made in the past. Follow the directions down to Tos and then on to Ai Tof on the valley floor. Caprile is about 1 km from here.
