Make Dole Whip at home with this copycat recipe! My mom and I had this at the Magic Kingdom in Disney and it is amazing. Excellent on a hot day as a smoothie and even better when frozen as a sorbet.

What Is Dole Whip?

Dole Whip is a dairy-free soft serve frozen treat first introduced at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom in 1984. Across its theme parks, Disney sells around 1 million servings of Dole Whip every day!

What Is Dole Whip Made Of?

The official Disney Dole Whip is made from a powdered mix that includes dry pineapple juice and other ingredients. The Disney Dole Whip is entirely dairy free. Professional soft serve machines help pump lots of air into the mixture, helping to give Dole Whip its light and airy texture.

At home, since it's not always easy to buy the powdered mix at the store, it's easiest to mimic the theme park Dole Whip by using a combination of four simple ingredients:

  • Canned or frozen pineapple
  • Heavy cream or coconut cream
  • Sugar
  • A touch of citrus, such as lemon juice

Test Kitchen Tips

This recipe from Allrecipes member Corinne has been loved by community members since it was first published in 2011. Our test kitchen professionals offer some tips if you'd like to improvise on the recipe below:

Make Dairy-Free Dole Whip
The Disney Dole Whip is dairy free, while this recipe uses heavy cream. Heavy cream definitely works, but if you'd like to keep the treat free from dairy, you can easily substitute canned coconut cream instead.

Use Frozen Pineapple
Corinne's recipe calls for canned crushed pineapple. If liked, you can instead opt for 4 cups frozen pineapple chunks.

Incorporate Pineapple Juice
If you have leftover pineapple juice from the can, you can add more pineapple sweetness and flavor by adding it in place of the lime juice.

  • 1 ½ cups heavy whipping cream

  • cup white sugar

Cook’s Note

This creates 10 very large servings, so in actuality, you can get a lot more servings out of this.
