Today, in products you definitely don’t need because you’re already a wonderful, happy, beautiful person: neck tape (yes, you read that right. Neck. Tape.) When I logged into Facebook yesterday, my newsfeed was filled with a viral video of women taping back their skin to get a younger-looking neck. At first glance, I thought it was fake or a joke—or both. But then I saw it over and over, and over again. Naturally, I had to investigate.
The aforementioned product is called Nexsey, and it is basically just a clear medical-grade tape that is placed on the back of the neck. The instructions are simple: Grab your neck skin at the nape, pull it back, tape it in place, and then cover the evidence with your hair. The result is a fairly slim and firm-looking neck. But, c’mon, I can’t help but scoff at the idea of altering my body daily with an adhesive. There are more important things to worry about, people! Plus, this stuff is medical-grade, which means it’s pretty hard-core and painful to remove (the brand even recommends using lotions or oils to help remove it, otherwise it might sting). With all that said, the tape has become so popular, it is now sold out. So if you’re dying to try it, you’re going to have to get on a wait list.

Now, I should note that this is not a new idea. Kim Kardashian famously uses gaffer’s tape as a strapless bra. Lady Gaga has said she uses face tape to alter her eyes. And countless other Hollywood celebs have apparently used the trick in the past. But this is the first time I’ve seen it marketed to the masses.
If an aging neck is a concern of yours, we get it. A lot of people want anti-aging tips for their décolletage. But we recommend just finding a night cream you like and applying south of the jaw. And, of course, apply sunscreen on the area daily!
