Product description

The BAKFlip MX4 was the first matte-finished, hard folding cover to market, becoming America’s #1 Selling Hard Folding Cover in just a few years. Simply put, the MX4 just looks better than other covers. Its sleek no-profile appearance allows you to maintain the appearance of your truck, while enabling you to securely stow cargo in the bed. The MX4’s pioneering, textured matte-finish adds a premium look and feel while also protecting against UV damage, annoying finger print marks, and scratches. MX4 has everything you expect from a premium cover. The engineers at BAK Industries fine-tuned even the smallest elements of the cover, down to adding cab corner caps and rail-end cap, to extending a matte-finish throughout the cover’s side rails, clamps, and elevator bolts. The MX4’s integrated buckle system and automatic latching mechanism allows you to drive with the cover partially or fully opened without covering the 3rd brake light. For 100% bed access, simply unlock the cover from either side via its pull latches and fold the cover all the way up against the cab. From there, you can prop the cover in place by tightening two rods into the underside of the panel. For enhanced durability, the MX4 also features pre-molded, shock-absorbent bumpers on either side of the panel, protecting the folded panels from hitting the cover during turbulent driving. Rain or shine, the MX4 provides confident cargo storage that’s complete with dual drain tubes to divert water away from the truck bed, as well as full perimeter seals to help protect against water intrusion.     Lining up the cover to make sure it fits front to back was a little issue. The foam strip should be closest to the box, not the cab and then tighten and will then fit all the way to the back and create seal with the tailgate.

    Initial review is further down if interested.
    Had to bring up the rating just for customer service. Responsive, accidentally sent wrong parts through warranty but it was quickly corrected by seller and warranty. After more research on the install, I see my install error by not completely inserting the middle bracket. All panels successfully click into place. Still a little bummed there isn't a click at each panel( only missing second panel click, from tailgate), but it still looks good on the truck.

    After receiving the cover with a broken corner piece, the manufacturer was quick to send a replacement through the warranty. I was on the fence about returning due to the latches underneath, but the customer is responsible for the shipping costs, so be sure to do your research. I thought I had a Bakflip on my older truck but it was a Gator Bed cover. The Gator bed covers have latches at each section. On the bakflip there are only latches on the first and last sections. I found that these latches are adjustable in the instructions but still... there is no satisfying snap on each roll down of the cover. It also means there is a security vulnerability with the second section as you could just pry it up with a screwdriver. The tension screws underneath also don't pull the cover down as snug as the gator bed cover. Water will get in if left out in the rain or snow, unless you use some sort of filler. Overall, I wish I got the gator cover but thankful for the customer service so I 'll give it 3 stars.

    I bought this for me 2024 GMC Sierra HD. The install is straightforward, but because of the design of my truck bed, I could it get the brackets for the rail as close to the tailgate as the instructions specified. Because of this, the rail has too much play at the end and the slam latches don’t work. When I close the last panel, I have to manually squeeze each side to engage the latch.

    Also, I don’t know if it’s related to the above, but it is not very water tight and a good amount of water leaks in from the sides.

    Overall I like it, though. I like that I can lift it up to allow full access to the bed (my previous tonneau covers didn’t allow that without removing the whole thing), and I like that it is solid and sturdy.

    This is my second Bak Flip, new truck. They are fantastic bed covers and give you some security for your belongings. This new one actually feels lighter than the first, not sure if they trimmed down some excess weight but it appears to be just as strong and durable.
