The bike is well made, rugged and has some quality components on it for this price point. We waited for a number of trips to the indoor bike park to be completed and I have to say, it has been out through it's paces, to say nothing about it having suffered a number of gnarly dumps and it is still doing it's thing and not looking bad, save a few scars.
If you have someone in the family that is starting out or looking to step up from a "cheap" BMX styled bike, this model is an excellent option.
Definitely recommended.

- Reviewed in Canada on December 2, 2020Colour Name: Grey/BlackStyle: L100Verified PurchaseBought this for my son as his first BMX bike. Mongoose was a big name when I was growing up in the 80's, glad to see they are still around. If you do your research you'll find that this is hands down the best deal for a full chromoly frame bike. Others manufacturers throw a bunch of fancy parts on but it's the frame that is most important. Also the rims are double walled which is a big plus, way stronger than all of the single wall rims on other bikes at this price point. If you want a bike to build off as you improve or components wear out this is tough to beat. The frame welds are comparable to all the other manufacturers out there and the paint is really nice as well. Ours came packed fine, spokes were tight, and just had to grease the seat post and install a few things, very straight forward. All in all a great bike.
- Reviewed in Canada on January 25, 2025Colour Name: BlackStyle: Legion L20Verified PurchaseI bought this bike for my son Xmas 2023 he's used it about a dozen times in that time frame because he kept getting flat tires and the chain busted. We'll we brought it to a bike repair shop and they fixed the tire and replaced the chain with a better chain but then the other tire went flat and the brakes stopped working. Just got back from the repair guy and he said I'm better off spending the money on a better quality bike because not only are the brakes shot but the handlebar assembly is stripped now too. Worst purchase I've ever made. These are supposed to be BMX bikes and my son can't even ride around the park with something breaking. Junk!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Quality for the price!
Colour Name: GreyStyle: L60Verified PurchaseLet me be up front, I paid $179 for this bike. It is the gray L60. I just looked again and the bike is now listed for almost $350. I’m not sure I would pay that for this bike. Not because it’s not worth that, but because I would probably buy a higher end brand for the same price. But, that’s just me.
I bought this for my son on his 9th birthday. He is very tall for his age at a little over 5 feet. According to the specs, he would be on the bottom end of the height range for this bike and it fits him perfectly. I am 6’ 2”, 250 pounds and I wouldn’t hesitate to buy this bike for myself based on the dimensions. The handlebars are a really nice height for me to ride.
I could not find out what the exact material the frame is, but it is very light. I was hoping to get him a Chromoly frame, and I would say that this would fit in that weight range. Everything is very stout and tight. I would not personally hesitate to take this bike to the park and jump it… Which I did. The crank did not flex at all, and I really love how fat the tires are. All around, I am impressed with the bike. The paint job had a nice detail in it near the welds to mimic a heat blemish, which is a throwback to the old days, when chrome bikes were welded and the heat would blemish the chrome and turn it a rainbow color.
The only Cons that I really found with the bike was under the fork where the neck stem passes through the fork and is welded in place, there was a really bad cut and weld. There are also a hint of rust on a few parts of the bike. I’m assuming from being shipped overseas from China. The metal Mongoose decal for the front of the head stem was a stick on thing. It may be that kids these days want a clean look and they did that as an option.
Other than those things, I can’t find anything else mechanically or geometrically wrong with the bike. To be clear, this is not a Walmart licensed product. This is a mongoose bike produced by mongoose or the company that owns mongoose.
p.s. it wouldn’t be a bad idea to make sure that the neck, crank and wheel hubs are all at the correct tightness. They feel a little tight out of the box. This is super easy to do yourself, but if you’re unsure, just take it to a bike shop.
A & RGreat Quality for the price!

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid deal if catching it when the price is right.
Colour Name: BlueStyle: L100Verified PurchaseThis review is coming from someone who has riden bmx for over 20 years, and has worked in or been a part of the bmx industry for over a 15 years now. So I know a a few things when it comes to high end, low end and everything in between.
With that out of that way, let me say this, the L100 has a lot of good going for it. If managing to catch it for under $400 you can't go wrong. The full 4130 chromoly frame fork and bars is a huge step in the right direction and an excellent starting foundation if wanting to upgrade the bike in the future. The sealed rear wheel, mid bottom bracket, and internal headset are also nice, but I'll touch on those in a bit. The frame accommodates wide tires, I've pictured a 2.4" eclat fireball in the rear. The forks also have ample space for large tires as well. Stock pivotal seat is pretty comfy. Brakes feel pretty solid for stock brakes.
Now, where the bike does fall short. The front wheel, it's unsealed. At the original asking price, there are other bike companies out there in this price range offering better specs. So I would have liked to see a sealed hub here. Now, the rims on these bikes are pinned instead of welded. While not a huge deal when you take in to account who this bike is marketed to, it's still something to make note of. The sprocket suffers from the "mass produced quickly" so it was rather bent causing some tight spots. Usually this is something you can't avoid on complete bikes like this. Stock chain is dainty, so I upgraded to a shadow v2 half link. There was grease on the clamp area of the stem where the bars go. I've never in my life greased that area, and I definitely recommend anyone gets one to check it before slapping the bars on.
All in all, I purchased this for my wife to pedal around with me at skateparks so I wasn't expecting to be wowed. However I wasn't let down by the quality. Mongoose may be known as a department store brand, but they do have quite the bmx heritage. I think if you can score this bike on a deep discount, or sale and swap out the wheels, chain, perhaps stem and cranks at some point. You'll have a solid bike. Straight out of the bike, it's great for beginnera and intermediate or that old guy getting back in to it after years off the bike.
Also, one thing to note, some of reviews are of people who bought a bmx bike and don't really understand what they bought. So for those reviews noting the chain guard or a kick stand. This isn't meant for a kickstand. And the chain guard is there because it has to be, you really aren't expected to keep it on the bike.
KeiSolid deal if catching it when the price is right.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice bike, but assembly nightmare.
Verified PurchaseThis is a super nice bike that my son loves and is the envy of the neighborhood kids. The assembly went very well until trying to get the brake line assembled. After hours of trying we gave up and took it to a bike shop. They had to fix the factory setup as it was incorrect when we received it. Other than that, this bike is great. My son is very happy with it.
