HT-19 thermal imager
New Higher Resolution 320 x 240
What is a thermal camera?
- A thermal camera is a special camera equipped with sensors that can detect thermal energy and turn it into visible light. Meaning, you would see the different energy emissions of objects when you look into one. The more heat energy an object emits, the lighter it is on the picture. And conversely, the lesser heat energy, the darker.
- It has a wide range of applications in the military and civilian industries and shows fast, non-contact characteristics.
- Thermal resolution determines how clear the thermal image is on your camera. (e.g., 32 x 32). The first number represents horizontal clarity and the second number, vertical clarity.

Good quality.
- Reviewed in Canada on February 7, 2020Verified PurchaseWe purchased this camera to assist us with our Home Inspections (Heat loss in houses) ......We have been using thermal imaging for 12 years in building inspections. We also have a $15,000 Flir Infared camera.... This small camera works great for what we are doing. ....Our larger unit is used for more commercial and industrial applications.....The small Unit seems to be the one our Home inspectors grab to do the work. This Unit stopped working 3 months after we purchased it....Not sure why......We contacted the supplier (XT Instrument) and they replaced the unit for us. We are pleased with the Unit and pleased with the service :"XT Instrument" provided. If you want a camera for Home Inspections....to detect heat loss or moisture behind walls....I highly recommend this unit.... No need to buy a camera worth thousands of dollars more....Cheers

- Reviewed in Canada on February 14, 2023Verified PurchaseThis thermal camera is very useful to identify the heat loss or heat generation in any system or building. The measurements are very accurate, the scanning speed is great but the battery doesn't last more than 30 minutes of continuous use.

- Reviewed in Canada on June 16, 2020Verified PurchaseWork in construction industry , I was looking for a thermal imaging camera to help with locating hot water pipes , duct repairs and water leaks.
The HTI - 19 failed in every aspect.
The built quality is actually better than I expected , the resolution is OK but that’s where it ends.
The HTI-19 is unable to pick up hot water pipes from behind single sheet of 5/8” drywall. Couldn’t even pick up a thermal image of hot pipe from behind a cupboard door. A simple plastic access panel that covers water shut offs in our house was also too much for the HTI. What a disappointment!
The HTI-19 performed marginally better locating in slab dryer ducts , but only after extended dryer use.
At least 3” hot water supply pipes in multi residential buildings were detectable.
I spent two full days adjusting settings, colours etc hoping that the camera just needs adjustment.
The price point is excellent , about half of entry level Flir E4 /E5 but don’t let the price advantage fool you. The HTI -19 is a hobby grade thermal camera.
If you’re looking for a device to find active electrical devices and air leaks around windows and doors the HTI-19 is a perfect choice. Anything beyond that get something else.
Since I can’t justify spending $3000-$5000 on new FLIR unit , I’m going to pick up second hand FLIR E5/E6 on EBay for the price of new HTI-19
Note on attached pictures total lack of heat signature behind wooden kitchen panel. No drywall backing , just a single layer of 5/8” panel
On another picture notice that once the access panel is out the hot water pipes are clearly visible, the plastic panel goes back the HTI-19 goes blind !
Last picture shows thermal image of from behind a shower wall, the shower was at full blast yet no heat signature on the other side.
This one is going back to Amazon for refund.

5.0 out of 5 stars The HTI-19 has significant potential and value in thermal imaging
Verified PurchaseUpdate 2/7/23-the HTI continues to function without issues. I continue to find new and different ways to utilize the thermal imaging feature. Battery life has been excellent, no degradation that I can tell just yet. It does take several seconds to power up so you just have to get used to it. The camera's thermal and visual overlay does need to be adjusted if you are doing close up work vs. longer distances.
Truly impressed! Right out of the box I realized there was significant potential with this HTI-19 thermal imaging camera. My first thoughts were to look at my own home. Even without any background in thermal cameras I was able to immediately utilize the high resolution of the camera and interpret areas that showed obvious signs of energy inefficiency. Areas missing insulation, joints to the exterior where caulking had cracked or split allowing air infiltration and gaps in door seals. With heating prices skyrocketing, improving each of these areas will likely have tangible results helping justify the use of the HTI-19. I fully expect that these same improvements would benefit summer cooling.
As for the camera itself, it does not appear to be cheaply made and feels robust during use. I had no issues with fatigue and the rubberized like grip provides a secure hold.
At the start I am leaving the basic thermal imaging settings at default till I am more proficient. These settings such as the Spectrum color palette and 0.95 emissivity seem to work reasonably well. I have noticed that as I move the camera(pan it) there is sometimes a very slight display hesitation as the image updates.
Standout specs:
-320x240 IR resolution(rare at this price point) and a relatively large display.
-One button image or video capture with 3Gb onboard storage.
-Simple USB charging and laptop or desktop connection capabilities.
-Accurate real-time temperature measurements
-Included carrying case and carrying strap
Images and associated quantitative data will be .jpg captured at 320x240 resolution and can be modified with included/available software. This could be handy if you are presenting your findings to others. I recommend searching for then visiting the HTI-instrument website for the latest image editing software. The camera does contain the imaging software within its built-in storage but the website has newer revisions. If needed the onboard software can be moved and installed to your computer when you connect via the USB micro port.
This HTI-19 has far more potential than just home energy efficiency. It does require some deeper understanding for more complex situations or environments. But the capability is there. It can be learned and applied to many other areas. With proper understanding, one area that I believe would stand out would be the ability to help diagnose water leaks/water intrusion. Even with only a few hours under my belt I feel I could potentially spot some of these water leak areas already.
For me I see this tool as something to help my own home initially then maybe to help family and friend's homes. Beyond that, there are many possibilities. Yes you can spend hundreds if not thousands more on other IR cameras but at this price point with included features the dive into thermal imaging with this HTI-19 is worth thinking about.

5.0 out of 5 stars Article reçu abimé mais remplacé par le vendeur
Verified PurchasePas trop compliqué à l'usage, facile a utiliser

5.0 out of 5 stars Eine wirklich gute Thermalkamera
Verified PurchaseThe media could not be loaded.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good product with good customer service
Verified PurchaseHave been using this camera (as do colleagues) for a while now. This unit I had for just under a year and use it for checking insulation in clients properties. I have always like the unit for the price and have tried quite a few. You can buy better at a lot more money and you can spend a little less on units much much worse. This is a good price and does exactly what I need it A couple of weeks ago the screen went blank without warning. Contacted the seller who told me to send it back to an address in Germany. As soon as I provided tracking information they despatched a new unit immediately. Very impressed.
