- Reviewed in Canada on June 12, 2021Size: AC1200Verified PurchaseMy Asus Maximus Hero comes with a built in wifi adapter, but for some reason when i used the 5Ghz connection I'd get an error in windows. Something like "Connected, No Internet." on 2.4ghz i didn't have that issue, but essentially it was just a problem with my card. I decided to buy a third party wifi adapter and hoped it would fix the issue.
After purchasing this i plugged it into my motherboard, booted it up and it worked right away.
Full 5Ghz speeds, full connection strength (there are a fair bit of walls between my PC and my router too), and no discconect issues. 10/10, Highly recommend this if you just need a solid wifi card for a good price.
- Reviewed in Canada on October 23, 2024Size: AX3000 + BluetoothVerified PurchaseI'm no stranger to slow internet, but I shouldn't get dropped out of MMO servers constantly, or not be able to load Netflix, things I did with no problem on a sub 10Mbps connection speed in my teens.
I upgraded (and I use this term loosely) from an Archer T4E, a card so dinky it didn't even have drivers I could find on TP Link, which was constantly cutting my connection until I would restart my computer. Somehow this is worse, as soon as it starts taking on any bandwith for more than a minute, it just drops to the slowest internet speed I have ever had. I rolled back and reinstalled drivers, I turned off all power saving features I could find, I limited my wifi channel width and everything, nothing was enough for this. I just gave up and bought a 50 foot ethernet cable to string across my house like a maniac. My old wifi card was able to stream at 1080p with zero issue, somehow this can barely load a Youtube video. Cannot recommend enough, do not get a wifi card ever. Just go wired unless you can have a tech whiz install it for you apparently. As someone who built and completely rebuilt my own PC I could not figure this worthless thing out.
- Reviewed in Canada on October 10, 2024Size: AX3000 + BluetoothVerified PurchaseQuick and easy install inside the computer. It took less than 5 min. Software on the disc installed easily also.
Everything worked perfectly to connect to wifi.
Good purchase.
- Reviewed in Canada on September 29, 2024Size: AX3000 + BluetoothVerified PurchaseThe only downside of this thing is that it takes up space near my GPU air intake, but that's just on the maker of my motherboard (bought a pre-made. Not a bad choice, honestly, due to the lack of parts available at good enough prices for my budget). So, if you don't mind that possibility, go for it. My PC is at the almost exact opposite side of the house from the router, and when my PC is on, I get more than 4 bars on the wireless "detection", for lack of better descriptor. Plus, it recognizes 6G wireless, like the advertisement says. The only downside is that it didn't come with a screw to hold it in place, so I had to steal one from the GPU's spots. So, I should mention what my expectations were when I bought it. I certainly wasn't expecting 4 bars of service, which is why I put "better than expected". I was expecting 2 or 3 bars of service. So I'm definitely happy it's more than that.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good, basic, hassle-free Wifi card
Size: AC1200Verified PurchaseFor people who don't want to spend unnecessary amounts of money on a Wifi card for their desktop build, this is a very good option. On my Windows 11 build, it came right up without needing additional drivers; it seems that Windows 11 has support for the chipset in question included in a standard install.
If you are a Linux user, you'll want to know in advance that the chipset in this adapter is the Realtek RTL8812AE. Check your distro for driver support using the chipset, rather than the TP-Link model number, to find the right driver. TP-Link does not directly offer its own Linux driver.
I found no problems with build quality or the included antennas. Everything fit without having to force or slightly bend backplates, etc., and if you prefer to use a different pair of antennas just order a pair of the very common RP-SMA Male Wifi antennas that almost all Wifi cards use these days. That said, the included antennas do the job nicely, getting almost as good throughput from opposite my house though multiple walls as when in the same room as the WiFi router. You probably won't need to get other antennas.
Please keep in mind that this card does WiFi, but NOT Bluetooth. If you need that, either a more expensive dual-purpose card or getting an inexpensive USB Bluetooth dongel (no reason you should spend more than 6 or 7 dollars on such a dongel) would fit the bill.
