NOT pigeon proof! Seagulls can access it too.

NOT pigeon proof! Seagulls can access it too.
It took the feral pigeons about a week to crack the barrier and as seen in the video, they can squeeze in. I thought the herring gulls are emptying the mesh plate 100% several times a day but turned out it could be both. 😳At best, wood pigeons might see difficulties but I don’t myself have issues with them - never had more than a couple or two. Ferals however count in dozens at a time so it’s mandatory for me and the neighborhood as a whole to discourage them, while still striving to feed few blackbirds, dunnocks and robins during the nesting season. ☹️That’s so disappointing after spending so much on a single feeder! I’ll try washing it as best as I can and return it for a refund. Already ordered another with tighter openings. It’s very sturdy in overall, food lowered in the center and unexpectedly convenient to refill and wash, but does not serve the purpose for me. 🤨A week later: I washed the feeder, pigeon-proofed it with burlap rope and I gave it a second chance. Ferals confused, blackbirds OK - however, no match for the seagulls! As I can’t upload a second video, I’ll add some pictures, wash that thing again and get done with it. 😠

Well made and finished. Lets smaller birds to feed in safely keeps larger birds at bay. Black birds have returned to my garden to feed in the cage as well as many smaller birds
If you like to see song birds feeding buy one of these I now have a pair for seeds and mealworms and the pigeon can’t get at the good.

This product is very solid and well-made, and requires zero assembly. The pigeons have barged flimsier versions out of the way, but not this one as it sits firmly on the ground and all they can do is circle it in frustration. I do put some food out for them too, but this stops them scoffing the lot, and the smaller birds get to feed in peace, including blackbirds and song-thrushes. I also like that it keeps them safe from cats. The feeding tray is simply lifted out to clean and refill, and the mesh design stop food getting soggy in wet weather. Can't comment on magpies as we don't have a problem with them, but if it's pigeons and cats you are bothered about, this will do the job.

This is of a very sturdy build but it doesn’t keep out large birds eg. Magpies and feral pigeons which is the reason I purchased it. The gaps between the bars need to be narrowed.

absolutely brilliant design just right to stop pigeons and doves stealing all the food so the smaller blackbirds etc. can get some as noted elsewhere highly amusing watching pigeons etc. running round outside whilst smaller birds just hop in good job got artificial grass otherwise would have a groove in the grass round outside with all the running round definitely very good buy

Opened the box on delivery to find the “ball” handle on top of the feeder had snapped off in transit. The other surprise is that this morning I saw a dove sitting inside the feeder happily eating the seed. Unfortunately I haven’t seen any song birds using this feeder. It’s been a disappointment.

Excellent for keeping out larger birds like rooks and magpies so that the smaller birds get some food. It is quite sturdy and a good idea however it does not keep out the squirrels, thrushes and blackbirds so perhaps would be even better if the wires were a bit closer together.
