We are building a fence around our garden and needed a way to set 6x6 posts for the gate. These worked great. We had one mishap because of a knot in a post. When the center of the bracket got to the knot it stopped it and eventually (after lots of sledge hammer action) the bracket broke. Make sure you don't have any knots in the post within 6 inches of the bottom.... turns out that bit of wisdom is also in the directions.

Well I'm here to tell you, normally with my job I do Vinyl hand rail. It's all pre fab. But on my house I made some custom handrail. It would in title 15 inline post. 10 that would have to be on concrete and 5 in wood on top balcony. These are very easy to use and after mounting they are as strong as it gets. I've used many different set ups. These are by far my favorite. HINTS. Make your post cut sq. Use a hole saw for first 1 1/2 inch. Use a paddle bit to clear the hole. A hole saw only drills down that won't empty it. After clear the first 1 1/2. Drill with hole saw one more time as deep as you can go. Make sure all dust is out. The hammer to get it started in. Then I took sledgehammer to go all the way to the post. Sledge allows you to hit the entire pipe base and helps keep sq. The I use a 4 5inch lag screws with a nice head on them. Make sure base and post are sq to each other after hamming together. If not lay it down. And just hammer corner of post to line up. On concrete set post were you want it. There is six holes for mounting. I pre drilled just for second to make my marks. Then moved the post and drill all. I use 2 inch concrete screws. Holds like concrete. No movement at all. And by the way. It's best if you don't want silver color bases. Paint them first. Not big deal lay them out and spray them all. Makes for good finish
