Adventures of an American Baby Boomer Kindle Edition

4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars 13 ratings

We are the generation raised under the thumb of survivors of the Great Depression and World War Two, with overtones of turn of the century immigrants and horse traders. A generation exposed to great beginnings blended with the old world of yesterday. We were to have what our parents didn’t and our fortunes to come quickly. We have seen more changes in our sixty years than any other. Our parents are ‘The Greatest Generation’ because of their sacrifices, for ensuring our way of life and the scientific advances and discoveries. Our legacy shall be known for our contributions of technological advancements. And yes we are a generation living for today and paying for it tomorrow! We make credit cards a way of life. Destined to be high achievers, believing that hard work pays off, educated better than any generation before. We will challenge authority and the status-quo, a counterculture. As an outcry of love after the war, we are the ‘Baby Boomers’.

David George writes with a heart of passion. Travel with him on his journey as a child in Western PA into the jungles of Vietnam and through the trials and triumphs of marriage and children gone good and gone wrong. Adventures of an American Baby Boomer taught me two valuable lessons: We never know what is happening behind the doors of a home. And a kind word and smile offered to a child can make a difference in a life. Our life's stories teach us and make us better people. I'm glad David George wrote his memoir so future generations (and the current one) can learn from the greatest teacher of all — life.

A story that all baby boomers can relate to. I saw my life over and over. An enjoyable read.

This book resonates with me, as the baby boomer that I am. David writes of a time when boys were allowed, and even expected, to do daring and adventurous things - dangerous adventures sometimes. Like getting run over by your dad, accidentally, by a tractor, with an outcome devoid of permanent injury. This book made me laugh and remember. My brother and I had one each a broken arm, and a bunch of stitches, and I love my parents for allowing us to be boys. David's writing is simple and direct, and fun.

This book is a very fun read. If you lived these days it will bring back many thoughts from your own memories. If you didn't grow up during the Boomer Years it will give you first hand info of how it was.

While everyone may not relate to this story, every baby boomer will. This was a very enjoyable read and I encourage you to take a look.
