    Insurance made me do this. I hired a plumber to installs this in my water softener intake piping. Paid $400 to install this and another mechanical shutoff valve as a fail safe mechanism. It took the plumber around 4-5 hours to install this and a mechanical shut off valves. I used Samsung’s SmartThings hub instead of Leak Smart’s own hub. I have existing water leak sensors every where in the house. Pairing it with The Samsung SmartThings hub is a mere 30 seconds from start to finish. It works great so far. I’ve only had it a few days and tested it. I have a whole house Wi-Fi network using a single router that broadcasts really far and wide, reaching my driveway and the backyard, covers all 4000 sq ft of indoor space. This shutoff valve is installed indoor, but at the far edge of the Wi-Fi radius, but still works well. I setup automations in SmartThings app to shut off this valve (and turn on my lights red) when a group of water leak sensors are wet. I tested one of the sensors in the group and in less than 5 seconds, text and push notifications received, water is shut off, and lights turned on and red (as a visual warning). I plan on adding a siren as an auditory warning, too. I will update this review if significant events about how this valve functions are encountered over time.

    This unit has to be professionally installed. If you have a well you need to make sure that it is on the pump side of the accumulator. This unit appears to be well made and it functions as advertised. It gets a little expensive when you add the sensors and the hub.

    Made purchase to install and protect my entire home from any water leaks. Purchased Jan 17th. I had to go out of town for about two weeks in mid Feb and figured I would install when I got back. Upon my return home I began to get all my other plumbing parts together. I downloaded the app for the leaksmart only to find out that I needed to purchase a hub for it to link to. So I run to Home Depot and purchase a hub ($100). Come home and link the leaksmart to it. Kept getting error message that internet not connected. I also found out that my entire home WOULD NOT BE PROTECTED with this product. Besides having to purchase individual sensors for every location that has water connections, IT WILL NOT SHUT OFF IF A PIPE BURSTS IN MY ATTIC!!! Of course when I found this out, I returned the hub to Home Depot and began my search for a true water shut-off system. I purchased the Flo by Moen for $500. No hub, no sensors, and it TRULY PROTECTS MY ENTIRE HOME. Unfortunately, I have a brand new, never installed, leaksmart that will now be a $200 paperweight since I cannot return it !!!

    So far so good. I have had it installed for about a month. I'm using it with Dome water sensors on a Samsung Smartthings hub. Every time I have tested the sensors, the valve closes with out fail.
    I have a new project coming up and plan on using 3 of theses valves and about 40 dome water sensors.

    This thing is awesome! Turning the water nipples normally causes leaks (so to speak/that’s what she said) so this gadget prevents you from having to touch the nipples at all (again, StS!) when replacing faucets. All you have to do is turn it off on your phone and then drain the lowest faucet and you are ready to work. It should be made clear, for this to work with Alexa, you need to buy the $200+ hub. I use Smarthings instead. After weeks of trying to have Alexa recognize it, I gave up. Annoying! This thing is expensive but worth it. Even my plumber is impressed. BTW, he installed it. No way I coulda‘ done that - get a plumber to do it!

    worked great for about 2 yrs then it started trying to turn the valve too far, it only requires a quarter turn to shut off but its going way beyond that, took the head apart thinking the gear was stripped but its fine. when activated without the motor attached the motor spins too long and it just bounces the gear all over and never shuts. will be buying a more expensive valve with a handle-turn motor so i can see when its closed. cant trust this.
