When I first got the arc for this I was pretty sure what I was getting into but after reading the blurb I was hooked. The author gives you plenty of spice, adventure, and action between the MC and the other characters in the book. I can not wait to read book 2 and see where she takes it from here.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

    Armando is just out of prison when he is attacked in Hannah’s flower shop. He does what’s needed but now has a witness. And what a witness, because he has her just where he wants her, under him. Thing is, she wants it too. Over and over again!

    I really enjoyed this story.

    The writing flowed seamlessly, the story plot was plausible and realistic and the steamy scenes were were spicy.

    3 stars because my biggest issue with this novel was Hanna. She is described as being a black women but read like a white one. Besides a physical description of her appearance and her mentioning she was black, she had absolutely no characteristics of a black women. Even her name is unbelievable. Her character came across as flat and and one dimensional. While Armando was written with so much vigor and culture. From his thoughts, to using his native language, even his actions. They coincided with his race and made him so raw and realistic. Hanna was so flat in comparison and it was such a disappointment.

    As a black women I was just really put off by her lack of African American representation. She should have been written to reflect a while women because she certainly reflected one.

    Besides my personal issue with the characters lack of relation to the race she was described as, this was still a really good read. Maybe not worth the hefty $5.99 price but I will consider getting the second book if it goes on sale.

    I just stumbled across this book and I am so glad that I did because it was amazing! Mafia romance is one of my top favorites and this one did not disappoint. Armando, an Italian mobster quite literally stumbles into Hannah's flower shop. They knew each other from before, but this second meet cute is one of my favorites to date. From there, Armando's and Hannah's relationship may or may not involve forced proximity, one bed, and Stockholm syndrome. I appreciated and admired that Hannah is a black and curvy fmc. I do not read many books like that so it added to the intrigue of this story. I love their chemistry and am rooting for their relationship, and now I am on to book 2 because this one does end in a cliffhanger.

    First time reading these authors. The blurb on Facebook caught my eye and I thought why not. What a rush. Armando is newly out of prison. Readjusting to the real world when someone from the past put a hit on him. While defending himself the battle spills over into the local floral shop, and roses end up not being the only thing to be chilling in the flower fridge. Hannah recently purchased the shop from her old employer and is barely keeping the doors open. After witnessing the accident infront of her…she knows she was in the right place at the wrong time. But when the person involved is her age long crush…all thoughts of self preservation goes out the window. Besides is it really kidnapping if your willing?

    I thoroughly enjoyed this book, It was the first Alta Hensley book i had read, but as i previously loved Renee's books, i tried it out, and was glad.

    This book involves a MMC fresh out of prison, trying to adjust to the real world again, coming to grips with freedom and adjusting to being social once again. Throw in a dash of danger and a sweet as pie FMC and some insta love? STEAM explosion!

    This is the first book in a duet, ending in a cliffhanger. I am looking forward to reading part 2 because I have been enraptured by Armando and Hannah's unexpected kidnapped /captive situation turned relationship. I'm so invested now.
