This is NOT the seventh edition of the book

- Reviewed in the United States on September 2, 2018It's the exact same book but with a Chinese cover. You can also easily find the PDF online.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 22, 2018This is not the same book as what was advertised. The seller fails to state that this is the "Special Indian Edition", which roughly equates to the Sections not matching up to the actual book that is generally assigned in University Courses. Unfortunately, it took me half a semester of extreme struggle to realize this book was holding me back because I was studying completely separate Sections from those who acquired the correct book. This book could be usable to someone that already has a grasp of Discrete Math, but it would do more harm than good if you are trying to learn as it is very dry reading, and is a 'wall of text'. I would not recommend this copy.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 26, 2015This book is... Not that bad. In fact it is pretty decent? I mean I was fully ready to use this thing as just a workbook but reading it has actually been pretty interesting. Maybe people don't like it cause it gives a bunch of background information about things? I honestly don't know, maybe it's just that it's more academics than engineering focused and a lot of people who use it will be engineers. So if you are an engineer reading this keep that in mind!
Ironically, I couldn't actually use this as a good workbook because I do not believe the version I have has (the odd) (or even) answers in the back. It was the paper version I guess? So watch out for that; the version I bought was considerably cheaper so I don't mind terribly.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 27, 2017Nearly ¼ of the price retail. Great buy for students.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 17, 2020The Hardcover and the Loose leaf versions are the 8th Edition, but the paperback is the Global Edition of the 7th Edition. This will hopefully get fixed, and you won't order the incorrect book.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 2, 2018Despite what the cover says, the paperback version of the book is NOT the seventh edition of the book. It is in fact, according to the preface, the sixth edition. The text may be close enough to the seventh edition that you could get away with it if that was your only purpose in buying it, but if your professor assigns exercises from the book by number, then the problem numbers will not match. I found this out the hard way by purchasing the book based on false advertising.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 8, 2014Yikes! I purchased this textbook as a required text for my class, and have come to find out that there are TONS of sections missing from the book including no Chapter 3 whatsoever! Now I have to find another version of the textbook to use for class. Definitely poor publishing and I'm glad I bought it here for $2 instead of paying a lot for this piss-poor textbook.

1.0 out of 5 stars A big mixture of everything and nearly nothing
Where is the red thread in this book?
A lot of themes from math and computer-science of many different kinds is put into this book.
The themes are of very different levels from plain highschool level simple math to very complicated and specialized stuff normally only studied by researchers. Some of the areäs are of general interest and importance, others are of no importances to the others than specialists.
Many of the themes is absolutely best understood by using drawings and illustartions, but they are so much missing in the book.
The reader is also missng clear samples of implementations of most of the areas in the book. It is just left to the reader to imagine how the things can be used.
I have read many other much shorter and much better books explaining the things of general interest dealed with in this book.
My advice: find another textbook

4.0 out of 5 stars It's not bad, but if you aren't obligated to buy it ...
It's not bad, but if you aren't obligated to buy it by your school, definitely take a look at Susanna S. Epp's book by the same name.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book
Really like the layout of the book (specifically, the use of sub headings in the margins on the left). Makes navigating around the pages easier.

3.0 out of 5 stars Though I recommend something else more concise for undergraduate studies
Many topics are covered. Though I recommend something else more concise for undergraduate studies.
