Having read some negative reviews about the metal breaking, I was amazed to see how sturdy this adapter looks. Also, no problem connecting a Watts water filter to the 1/4 inch connector.The section that screws into the nut of the water tap looks nicely machined as the picture shows and is 9mm long, which is very good.However, there is a BIG problem: The thread inside the nut is only 5.8mm long. That's cutting is pretty close for my taste, especially when the thread on the pipe it connects to doesn't reach all the way to the top. But to make matters worse, they supply a 3mm rubber gasket with it that means effectively there are less than 3mm worth of thread left in the nut. You can see in the attached picture that this means the connection looks very iffy and a major water spill seems to be inevitable.I didn't test the function of the valve, but this piece is going back to Amazon. That's sad because if this flaw could be fixed, this looks like a very nice adapter.

    I was installing a instant hot water boiler/tap to my sink area, and it blows my mind that this t/valve is not included in the manufacturer's kit. Are you listening Insinkerator?? Instead, I went to a local home improvement center and had to guess and select amongst the various parts and components for the proper adapters and fittings. I walked out with a half dozen parts to "try" but any combination of them really didn't work. Lo and behold, Amzon has the ONE SINGLE COMPONENT that solves the installation problem! Amazon should at least suggest this as an add-on purchase when shoppers add a hot water tap to their cart. Anyway, this part worked perfectly!

    I ordered this to be able to add a water line for our refrigerator, but it didn't matter what I did, it just would not seal on the water supply line. The rubber gasket that is included would slip down into the supply pipe no matter what and as soon as I turned on the water would spray water everywhere. I would avoid this, and actually go to a hardware store to get a tee and valve, which is what I ended up having to do. 0/10, do not recommend.

    The best solution to connect you fridge ice maker to the cold water. This does not need any additional part.

    Altenatively you can use

    1) 3/8 inch,3/8 inch Comp and 3/8 inch OD Compression Angle Stop Valve Adapter
    2) with a 3/8 to 1/4 inch reducer
    3) and a 1/4 to 1/4 inch hose. Which strangely I was not able to find shorter than 5 feet in canada.

    Not only you need to pay more, there are many bad reviews about the bad taste of the water with all of these braided hoses. This adapter has solved the problem for me.
