    The book is ideal for an health professional who wants to specialize in the geriatric and gerontology area, or for whom wants an upgrade. The contents of the chapters in this book are thoroughly reviewed to meet the knowledge expectation and guidance for any health worker in the geriatric area or not. The geriatric syndromes are discussed in the light of recent therapeutic advances in the area and aiming the rational use of medicines in the elderly and their safety. The author uses explanation and analysis to present a subject or to clarify an idea. Its primary purpose is to explain. All the chapters have a good review refering to specialized magazines. The quality of the paper and ilustrations are outstanding , very good. This book helps me a lot by clarifying whatever I have been reading in specialized magazines.

    I also had the opportunity to flip though this title,indeed the text is very well organized with
    lots of practical information(there is even an international section analysing the care of the elderly countrywise..).The first general part is
    (general science on ageing) straightforward-simple concepts explained elegantly.Let's remember that ageing of the population makes encounters of healthcare workers with the elderly more and more likely-part III shows wisely what kind of syndromes
    a provider will typically encounter(frailty,sleep,delirium etc):the basic concept here is that the old should be viewed as
    a physiologically peculiar category(see surgery section)-also interesting the chapter on the brain..Although I didn't venture into the special pathology parts (oncology etc) am sure they are well written too,because as Mzanca said there is an excellent reference section at the end of each chapter..
