- Reviewed in the United States on April 20, 2018This thing is amazing! I have a GE fridge and the water on the door stopped working. Ice maker works fine. I read on the internet that it was a frozen line in the door so I did the hair dryer the first time and it worked but took about 15 minutes and my freezer got so warm that I think it then had to ramp up the cool to get it cooled down again, so a day or so later the line was frozen again. So I heard about this little gadget and bought one.
It's not very big and I thought I would have to do it a few times to get anywhere. I put a glass of hot tap water in the microwave for 30 seconds to get it good and hot but not boiling. Then I put a cup underneath and fed the tubing up until I could feel it stop which was not very far, maybe 5 inches or so. I squirted some water and felt a little give so pushed the tube in a little further and squirted some more. When I finished I was going to draw more hot water into the syringe and while I was getting read to do that I heard a noise and I guess that was the ice jam breaking free. I tried the water and it was flowing freely.
I am so happy with my purchase, and recommend it highly

- Reviewed in the United States on February 8, 2018It is very seldom that I write reviews, but this product saved me a lot of time and repair costs for my 11 year old GE Profile refrigerator. The common problems for these refrigerators are frozen water lines, bad solenoid valves and defective ice maker door flaps. About 2 years ago, I paid some service pros to install a ice flap heater to prevent water condensate from running down the front of the refrigerator. It should also prevent icing of the water tube that delivers chilled water to a glass held to the lever on the refrigerator door. It seems that the heater is no longer working, the ice maker flap is no longer sealing tightly, or it has been too long since I used filtered water. I decided to give this water syringe a try. Just microwaved some hot water and drew the hot water into the syringe. The next step was to insert the small tubing into the white water tubing that is accessible from the front of the refrigerator and squeeze the syringe. After a single syringe of hot water into the white tube, the ice jam was freed and water flow was restored. I can't say that this tool will solve every water problem with this refrigerator, but for the price and speed of delivery, it is certainly worth trying first. Check out their instructive video on YouTube.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 20, 2018This product is awesome! I purchased this product after realizing "the blow dryer trick" was not the way to go. After discovering that my water dispenser was not working due to the line freezing I initially used a blow dryer to "unfreeze" the water reservoir line behind the vegetable pan on the inside of the refrigerator. It worked like a dream the first time I tried it; however it took FOREVER using moderately low heat which finally melted away and loosened up the ice that had lodged in the line. The 2nd time I tried using the blow dryer, I got cocky and turned up the heat and propped the blow dryer up inside the fridge to let it do it's thing...BAD IDEA! I ended up busting a hole in the line from the heat. :( Eventually, I replaced the line (water reservoir) and decided to look for other options. After googling, I found two seemingly sensible options. 1) I found that you can install some sort of heating element inside the panel behind the water/ice dispenser which will keep it from freezing. Apparently, the doors on most fridges are not insulated properly. That was not ideal for me. 2) I found this AMAZING, handy dandy tool from IceSurrender!!! This tool works in minutes...literally!!! I was able to test it a few days after installing the new water line (froze again...go figure lol) and it worked like a charm! This tool will save you lots of time, money, & labor...I speak from experience.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 1, 2024Simple concept, but stupid design. Description says it will work on GE refrigerators. I have a GE profile fridge and the hose is basically the same size as the water dispenser hose on the refrigerator, so the tube won't go more than 1/4" into the water dispenser tube. In fact, it's so airtight that it's impossible to depress the syringe. Stupid design! A smaller tube might work, but I'll have to go to the hardware store now to buy that. Don't waste your money!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 3, 2018Our fridge water line freezes periodically, and we’ve done various things over the years to unfreeze the line: turning the freezer temp warmer, storing less ice and food in freezer, leaving freezer door open to thaw frozen part....etc, etc. The issue seems to always be the section of the line nearest the water dispenser (on freezer door), but we can’t predict what’s causing it to freeze. We’ve even added a little styrofoam to the inside of door. Needless to say, when I saw this contraption, I thought it looked like a possible solution. Well, I will say that it’s the BEST and fastest way to get the water line flowing again. It works like a charm and I am happy to say that we no longer have to have a stash of plastic water bottles on hand for when the fridge water line freezes (our tap water isn’t the best and we drink a lot of water). If you have this issue with your fridge, get this and save yourself the cost of having to repair the fridge. (My very reputable appliance repair person says it is a design flaw with my model fridge and would basically require replacing the door, so this is far cheaper!)
- Reviewed in the United States on October 3, 2017This is a wonderful and simple to use device to thaw the ice in the water dispenser. We had a repair man before we saw this invention on the internet. The so-called expert charged us $125 and recommended that we defrost the freezer and refrigerator for a couple of days. Also, forget about using a hair dryer to defrost the freezer. This device took minutes to thaw the ice in the water dispenser tube. It is nothing more than a thin tube and a syringe to push the water up into the dispenser tube which is accessible by the paddle that is used to open the water valve. The recommendation for using it was not correct in our case as the 30 sec of microwaving the water was not enough to heat it up.
