- Reviewed in the United States on May 23, 2018This book is truly a book for women who are NOT a character out of a Jane Austen novel or any other books read in school. In this, I discovered that I truly am Lisa La Giuffria or a reincarnation of her. I remembered my experience with Douglas / the real Dale from Twin Peaks who didn't die, Abdul Bey / The real Shaggy Rogers, Cyril and the most unpigmented man of all time, Simon Iff, whose philosophy is automatically the only one possible in my current life now whether he liked me or not. Obviously, Douglas didn't really abuse his wife who never loved him and was an escort even after marriage, and Abdul / Shaggy never harmed a cat or ate dogs in his eternity, but it just goes to show that the original Black Lodge and White Lodge were separated by nothing but reputation and rumors, but were quite unified at the end. It was myself Lisa being forced to be given away to America AKA this dimension that got them all trapped in a loop. I became trapped on this side and couldn't get back. Also, the moonchild was not really inside me since it was made clear that Cyril didn't do anything with me and I was under 9 when this happened...no period yet. But, the life experience of Lisa has been my entire life, my entire eternity. I want US high schools to read this for the women like me! 😇 ---Jessica Lee Bennett since getting to this dimension

- Reviewed in the United States on June 5, 2016Interesting book. Sort of like an early version of Lord of the Rings. It's difficult to follow at times. In fact it's kind of convoluted in the middle when Crowley is explaining all of the magick themes/ culture. I'm sure he was intent on getting things accurate but it's just too much and is difficult to follow. I haven't finished yet but if I want to understand it better I will probably have to read it again.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 16, 2013One of those books that, if I cared enough to get it, would require a second reading. Aleister Crowley, a talented writer certainly, inhabits a parallel universe and does his best, it seems, to portray it, but it does not translate well into this one. Unfortunately, not driven to reread it right away, but I'll keep it around in case I want to try again sometime. I had hoped it would contribute to a research project I was working on otherwise, but that didn't happen. I fault my familiarity with his subject matter more than the author.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 8, 2014This book entertained and that is why I have given it the rating I have. Can be a little boring in some places but that is okay.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 30, 2016Brilliant novel by Crowley about two warring occult groups, very entertaining.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 22, 2023After all the well-known quotes you add when you should have been reading the chapters of Moonchild, there is one quote you should memorize:
"Those who think of me foully tend to call me Crouley,
Those who know I am holy always call me Crow-ley."
GET IT?
VERY disappointed with the entire recording.

Excellent fiction book drawn on Crowley's practical ideas and many interesting information is passed as the story rolls.
A must for readers interested in Crowley's work.
