Ryan the Lion is a beautifully illustrated children's story that explores themes of social tolerance, self-esteem and personal identity.

Ryan is a lion cub who acts like the other animals in the jungle because he thinks they are cooler than lions. In doing so, however, he attracts their ridicule.

As Ryan grows up, his mane gets longer and his roar develops. Soon he attracts admiration, and he feels pride in being himself.

Bought this for a little one named Ryan, and it fits him to a tea! Great moral to be just what you are, and don't try to be anything else.

If you're going to read a book to your children over and over again -- and you will find yourself doing that with Ryan the Lion -- it's a pleasure to know that there's a powerful message being reinforced. Ryan the Lion is an amusing story for young children that teaches them that they shouldn't aspire to be anyone other than themselves.

The illustrations are lovely and, if you're reading on the Kindle app for iPads, smartphones or computers, are in glorious full colour.

This is a lovely book and I hope it becomes part of a series before my son is too much older.
