Good illustrations. Very comprehensive and easy to understand without going into heavy detail. Illustrations are easy to follow. I really loved that the print font and size and spacing between the lines made it easy for me to read. I can read while I'm exercising. Nothing more frustrating for me, a senior, to struggle reading itty bitty light print.

I got this book because I started having a problem with my right leg, causing me to limp a little. One little lady from church, who now uses a walker told me, that she used to walk like that! Well, that's what made me start looking for exercised for sciatica. (That's what my husband called it.) I got on Amazon and started looking for a book on exercises for it. I saw this book for Seniors and I knew it was the one for me! I read it and tried a couple of them and I found one that really did the job! I still do the exercises every morning and the results are wonderful. They only take a few minutes and are so worth it!

Why are there no credentials for author? I have looked online and find nothing about this author. Is this book, and her other books, just compiled ideas that she gathered or actually based on medical research?

I found most of these exercises hurt quite a bit, Remember Sciatica is a nerve problem with your sciatic nerve being pressed by your loose or bad spine bones pushing on your sciatic nerve.
These exercises in theory are probably helpful but it would take a professional to teach you how do these exercises properly so you don't cause more harm. Doing it from a picture is a bad idea.
I am convinced only corrective surgery to take pressure off your sciatic nerve will stop the pain.
Of course the surgery is dangerous, expensive, and the healing process is awful. If you are over 60, I wouldn't do any surgery and learn to live with it. If you can get through the surgery and recovery, you will be happy!

I suffer with sciatica and arthritis of the knee, after reading this book from beginning to end I am sure that if I can motivate myself to do the exercises both would improve, exercises really explained and illustrated well.

The book has a good range of exercises for sciatica and other joint related issues: it is useful to see exercises suggested by different physios all in the same place, and described in a clear and user friendly way, even if some terms sound a bit ‘American’ for Brits.
The paper and print quality aren’t great (not really an issue), and the diagrams are of so many different styles that it looks like a ‘copy and paste’ job! More irritating is the lay out/formatting with section titles at the bottom of a page then a space before the diagram/text on the next page: plain odd, and I would have thought issues should have been fixed at the proof reading stage. As for the word spacing in some headings…
It would certainly have been a plus point if there was some information about the author: as far as I can tell all the medical info is accurate, but what is her background and her qualifications? It’s very unusual not to be given some information.
Having said all that, I am glad I bought the book and will certainly use it.

3.0 out of 5 stars not as expected

Exercises for seniors is not a book for me and I imagine a lot of others too. Most of the exercises are on the floor. If I got on the floor, I would not be able to get up without someone's help. Most of the exercises are impossible to do for me; I know you only do what you can, but, the most are too hard to even begin to do if you are overweight, which I am. The pictures are of people who are in good shape physically and can move reasonably well. That is not my case and I don't think I am alone in this situation, so that is why I was disappointed with the book. There are a few exercises I can do, but not many.
