My current brand name scanner cost well over $130 when I bought it and I thought this would not compare to it at all. I was wrong.
I use this at a cellphone dealer, where many of the barcodes on the phones can be quite tiny, or in the case of the iPhone boxes, tiny, and faint (some iDiot - see what I did there? - decided they should have grey barcodes on a white background) which some scanners have difficulty with. Also works perfectly fine with huge barcodes (at least half a foot long) like you see on some shipping labels.
I have had 0 problems with this scanner after using it for a few months. The manual is written in Chenglish, and not very helpful, but if you've ever used a scanner before, you won't need it. It is completely plug and play with no programming needed. Has a VERY bright green LED at the top (I ended up using electric tape to cover 2/3rds of it as it could almost substitute as a flashlight). The build quality is really great, I've thrown it down a few times and never had to worry about it breaking apart as it feels pretty solid. It's also very ergonomic and feels great in the hand.
Would recommend this for any small business that doesn't want to invest a lot of money into equipment. I'll definitely be buying more when I begin to upgrade my other computers which currently use PS/2 scanners.
