Perfect Suspense for KidsI’ve read all three books in Karen Inglis’ Secret Lake series, and this is the best so far. Her kid characters have deepened and matured, and the story drew me in.It’s been a while since reading the other Secret Lake books, so it took me a few chapters to get reacquainted with the large cast of characters and get my bearings in their historical time and surroundings. Once I was grounded with the setting and characters, I was off to the races. The mystery element kept me guessing, and I really wanted to solve it. The twists go almost right up to the end, and readers will be satisfied with the finale.Inglis’ young characters are engaging and accessible for today’s kid readers ages eight and up. When my young granddaughter reaches school age, I will definitely add this to her gift list. Readers will fly through the story, entranced by the historical aspects, as they try to solve the clever twisty mystery. Highly recommend!2
