- Avis laissé en France le 3 décembre 2011Un vrai bonheur, beaucoup d'humour et de clins d'oeil à une époque que les moins de 20 ans ne comprendront peut-être pas!Seul bémol, pas de sous-titres français.

5,0 sur 5 étoiles The first year of Chris Rock's "autobiographical" Emmy-worthy series
Tyler James Williams has the title role in this comedy gem, now in its second year on the CW Network. Creator (and narrator) Chris Rock has crafted a show that chronicles (with much "poetic license") his growing up in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn and paints a warmly humorous look at his family.
Williams is perfect as the boy that must deal with home life as the eldest that is held responsible for his younger siblings while dealing with a school where he is an oddity: the only Black person in the school. The latter allows Rock to mix comedy with social commentary, something that he does quite well.
The rest of the cast is fantastic. Terry Crews plays the stern and hardworking father, Julius; Tichina Arnold (formerly of Martin Lawrence's series) shines as the mother; Tequan Richmond is Chris's younger but larger and more-appealing-to-the-girls brother Drew; Imani Hakin is Keisha, the sister that makes life miserable for her older sibling; and Vincent Martella plays Chris's only friend at school, Greg.
The twenty-two episodes on the disc are self-explanatory and offer a sly nod to the show's premise by containing the words "Everybody Hates" in their titles ("Everybody Hates Basketball," "Everybody Hates Sausage," " Everybody Hates Food Stamps," and "Everybody Hates the Gout," just to cite a few).
The compilation disc also contains cast commentaries on selected episodes and fascinating featurettes on the director/co-creator, the integral part that music plays in the show, and auditions, along with others.
The quality of the DVD is excellent and the show is presented in the widescreen format.
Hopefully, sales will be strong enough to persuade the release of season two at its end.

5,0 sur 5 étoiles Chris Rocks
Everybody Hates Chris is the story of Chris Rock's childhood, in Bedstie, Brooklyn, during the 1980s. We see his friends, family and his school, Colyone - which to Chris' amazement is mainly predominantly white. There's father Julius - he's a penny pincher; Rochelle, his mother, you don't want to mess with her; his brother Drew, he seems to get all the ladies and is lucky and little Tanya - always blames Chris for things that go wrong.
In this series we get acquainted with Chris' bully, Caruso, who does everything he can to get Chris; the rather crazy and stereotypical Ms. Morello who's got crazy ideas about black Americans; and of course, his best mate Greg Wuliger - a geek at heart.
Some funny episodes include the one where Chris has to learn how to play basketball, Fat Mike who nicks Chris' bike and he has to get it back before his parents find out; the crazy babysitter who goes off and leaves Tanya on her own and the food stamps Rochelle gets and can't get rid of.
This is a great show, Chris and Ali have done a great job of it and it's very funny. I especially like that guy who keeps asking to "hold a Dollar", he's funny, and the other characters - like Risky - they just make the show funny. Chris narrations are the funniest though, it's the way he says the lines and the timing - it's impeccable, plus the way he uses his voice - the dynamics are so funny. Plus I like the way they use cut scenes: when Tanya makes hot chocolate, Chris has this terrible vision of the house going up in flames, and then Rochelle walks in and sees it too.
This comedy works on so many levels and age groups, you'd be mistaken to think this is a kids show, or even a teen serial, it's a lot more than that and everyone can relate to Chris' treatment. I like the way he exaggerates Ms Morello though, but I can imagine this is not just something Chris Rock or Ali LeRoi plucked out of the air.
Definitely worth getting - plus there are some fine extras; like a day with Tyler James-Williams (Chris) and Vincent's School tour, both very funny.
