LLumar ppf

LLumar’s Platinum Paint Protection Film combines best-in-class durability and clarity not previously available in the market. With its very low surface energy, LLumar Platinum PPF sheds contaminants that would otherwise stain or yellow conventional films. In addition, the clear coat employs special elastomeric polymers that “heal” over time eliminating swirl marks and other fine scratches without having to do anything.

This product carries a 10-year limited warranty against, yellowing, cracking, peeling, staining, and hazing, covering both film and labor.

FAQs

We get asked a lot of questions regarding PPF. Here are a few of the most frequently asked. Feel free to contact us if you have a question that isn’t listed.

What is Paint Protection Film?
Paint protection film, also known as PPF or clear bra is a clear urethane film designed to provide an end all be all solution against damaging impacts like rock chips, parking lot dings, and scratches. The film provides an 8-10 mil thick barrier and features a self-healing, clear coated top layer. When installed properly it will look just like the paint on the rest of your vehicle. American Shine has been offering paint protection film services in the Northern VA area since 2012.
Why should I get PPF on my car?
A new vehicle is generally the second largest investment people make aside from a house. It only makes sense to protect such a large investment, right?
Will I be able to see the film once installed?
Great question! The custom paint protection film packages installed here at American Shine are some of the very best. We use industry leading techniques to achieve the most invisible wrap possible. Most surfaces like hoods, fenders, doors, and rear quarter panels are bulked and all edges are wrapped. When done this way the film itself will be totally seamless, and as such invisible. Some surfaces such as front bumpers, headlamps, and mirrors are generally cut from a computer plotted kit, but edges are extended where possible to increase coverage.
How long does Paint Protection Film last?
Most all of the current generation films such as LLumar, Xpel, Suntek, 3M, and Stek all offer a 10-year manufacturer warranty. These warranties cover the customer from product defects such as yellowing, fading, cracking, or bubbling. The film is a urethane, however, and due to its pliable nature, it is not uncommon for lower panels like front bumpers to take some abuse over time. Wear and tear usage is not warrantied, and generally will require a replacement piece of film in 3-5 years or with heavy use. The idea here is to let the film take any damage, thereby maintaining the integrity of your factory paint.
How do I maintain the film?
Because modern day films utilize a clear coat they must be protected in the same way as the rest of the vehicle. Further, due to the softer, more pliable nature of films, the clear coat is especially susceptible to bird dropping and bug gut etching. Wax or a polymer sealant will provide some protection, but to really get the most out of your film we recommend topping it with one of our Ceramic Coating offerings!
Should I have a ceramic coating applied over the film?
Absolutely, now you’re on the right track! Since we’ve already covered the softer nature of the film, we know that protection is of the utmost importance. Ceramic coatings offer not only a superior source of protection, but one that lasts years as opposed to just weeks or months. Adding a ceramic coating is a great way to protect the investment you’ve just made.
