VOTE: South Bend Tribune Athlete of the Week, Jan. 1-7, 2024

It's now time to vote in the first South Bend Tribune Athlete of the Week poll for calendar year 2024.

Seven athletes are nominated for their performances from Jan. 1-7, 2024. The poll will remain open until noon ET Wednesday. You may vote as many times as you want during the duration of the poll. You can find the link to the poll HERE or by SCROLLING TO THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE.

Here are the nominees, in alphabetical order.

Argos girls basketball senior Samantha Redinger

Although she only played one game this week, Redinger made it count, scoring 42 points in a 70-36 win over Lakeland Christian Saturday.

Brandywine girls basketball senior Ellie Knapp

Knapp had a big performance for the Bobcats, scoring 15 of her 19 points in the fourth quarter to lead her team to a win over Hart last Tuesday night. It helped Brandywine improve to 5-0 overall on the season.

Concord girls swimming freshman Brynlee Yoder

Yoder played a key part in two wins for Concord this week, winning four events each in victories over Northridge Thursday and Warsaw Saturday.

Northridge boys swimming junior Sawyer Lehman

Along with winning four events in a meet against Concord Thursday, Lehman was victorious in two events in a three-team meet with Homestead and Carroll Saturday, helping the Raiders beat Homestead for the first time in seven years.

NorthWood boys basketball junior Tyler Raasch

Raasch helped the Panthers pick up two wins this week, including a 31-point, seven-rebound performance in a 56-53 victory over Wawasee Friday night.

Penn girls wrestling sophomore Guliana Reed

Of the six area girls to win semistate championships Friday, Reed was arguably the most dominant, winning all four of her matches by pin in less than 90 seconds to claim the 235-pound title at the Penn semistate.

South Bend Washington girls basketball junior Ryiah Wilson

Wilson had three impressive performances this week: 18 points, four assists and four steals in a win over Butler Prep (IL) Tuesday; 19 points, seven assists and seven steals in a win over Bremen Friday; and 21 points and six steals in a loss to Bolingbrook (IL) Saturday.
