When a five-time All-Star NBA player like Kevin Love marries a famous supermodel like Kate Bock, it results in a wedding that, even by New York City standards, is the epitome of exclusivity, elegance, and roaring ’20s design.
The couple tied the knot on June 25 at one of the city’s most iconic venues: the flagship location of the New York Public Library. Long known as one of the most romantic spaces to exchange vows, the Library, officially known as the Stephen A. Schwarzman building, has also been host to iconic films like Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Ghostbusters, and Spiderman. Declared a national historic landmark in the 1960s, Beaux Arts building, designed by Carrère and Hastings, first opened its doors to much fanfare in 1911 (even President Taft attended). It is most notable for its Vermont marble exterior and the charming pink Tennessee marble “library lions” that flank the main exterior staircase. In fact, when the library was completed, it was the largest marble building ever built in the United States.
The theme the couple opted for was The Great Gatsby, befitting of such a historical venue, with A-list guests like LeBron James and Adele following a black and white dress code. To bring their elegant vision to life, Bock and Love hired wedding planner extraordinaire Marcy Blum, who also tapped Mixed Greens Design and Amaryllis Events to aid with the high-profile party.
The library’s Astor Hall served as the backdrop for the couple’s vows. Blum created an ethereal atmosphere glittering with thousands of candles and an arched chuppah made out of cherry blossoms. One particularly touching moment was the bride’s walk down the aisle, during which a children’s gospel choir sang “I Choose You,” by Willie Hutch. “It was a lot of work, but we had so much fun doing it,” Bock told Vogue of planning the nuptials. “We love being creative, and it was amazing to see the process of how our dream celebration came to life.”

For her dress, Bock again took inspiration from history, this time channeling screen legend Grace Kelly in a custom lace and beaded gown designed by Ralph Lauren; Love also wore custom Ralph Lauren; a tux with a snappy, white blazer.
Besides being treated to an evening in one of New York’s most beautiful buildings, guests did not leave empty handed. Everyone went home with a new pair of Nike Air Force Ones, plus a mini chocolate pie made from a recipe from Love’s cherished grandmother, Carol.
