Areas of focus

ASEAN-ACT is committed to strengthening the knowledge and skills of counter-trafficking practitioners through a systematic institutional approach.

In Phase 2 (2024-2028), we will continue to support ASEAN and ASEAN Member States to fulfil their ACTIP obligations, particularly those that relate to victim rights and gender equality, disability and social inclusion.

In consultation with our government and non-government partners, we will focus on addressing specific counter-trafficking challenges in four key project areas.

Enhancing collaboration within and across sectors

This project aims to support ASEAN and ASEAN Member States with exchange and cooperation initiatives, such as policy dialogues, to progress multi-stakeholder approaches to countering-trafficking.

Institutionalising knowledge and professional development

This project aims to support ASEAN and ASEAN Member States with utilising and building on the wealth of existing counter-trafficking materials and training assets. This includes supporting national trainers and existing justice sector training institutions to strengthen their policy and training to integrate victim rights and gender equality, disability and social inclusion.

Improving transparency and accountability in TIP

ASEAN-ACT seeks to support ASEAN Member State agencies to put in place the mechanisms to evaluate and assess the performance of their counter-trafficking efforts, their national plans against trafficking in persons, and against their ACTIP obligations.

Cultivating counter-trafficking leadership and coordination

This is a pilot project for ASEAN-ACT in Phase 2, oriented towards institutional strengthening and policy reform. ASEAN-ACT will continue to refine the implementation of this pilot project for future leadership development programming.
