We have a miracle chick, one out of 13 that made it through the power outages of yesterday and managed to hatch early this morning. Right now it sits and somewhat walks on it's hocks instead of up on it's feet. I've been searching the site and looking through pictures and it's not spraddle legged or anything like that, just kinda sits really far back and shuffles. Is there anything that I can or should do to help it out a little?

I recommend putting nutri drench in it's water, it's loaded with vitamins and minerals. Give the chick fresh water after a few days or it might get diarrhea from the nutri drench. More importantly, go to a pharmacy and buy some vitamin B complex capsules, crush one up and sprinkle it in it's feed. I had a salmon faverolle chick that did the same thing and found out it was a vitamin B deficiency. Two weeks later she was walking normally.

Thanks a bunch, I have some vitamin B stuff here, that they had me taking to help with morning sickness, so I'll try adding that tonight, and see about getting some of the other tomorrow.

It looks like a type of spraddle leg to me. I had one doing exactly the same thing but was cured within 24 hours with my method.

Take an elastic hair band and cut off the metal part. Tie both ends together. Twist, twist, twist in the middle and tape the twist.
Place each leg in the holes, like a hobble. Keep on the chick until it walks normally.
The chick needs to get up on it's feet and this will help fast!

I had the exact same thing happen to one of my Maran chicks, look back several pages on this thread to 'down in the hocks' chick, I have a picture there. She was like that for about a week, but then one morning I woke up, checked on them and she was up on her feet walking fine. She used her wings for about a day after she was up on her feet for balance, but now she is fine and running all over the place just like all her 'sisters'.
