Made this but used sweetener so it would be low sugar. Bought my jar from b and m. Used a cheap dry gin kept the bottle to transfer once I had sieved it not a jug. It's really good, can taste the strawberry. Going to try some other flavours next. I have made a lemon one too that was very refreshing

question

Hiya, just wondering if it’s necessary to keep it in the fridge whilst steeping, I have had a look at several recipes and none others state to keep in the fridge?

Just wondering as I have a large kilner jar that won’t fit in the fridge and don’t want to waste all that gin if it doesn’t work.…

Hi, thanks for your question. We've only tested this in the fridge so can't guarantee how well it will preserve the strawberries out of the fridge. Sorry we can't help with this one. Best wishes, BBC Good Food Team.

question

Wrong time of year for fresh strawberries, can we use frozen fruit. Defrosted before use I presume?

question

Hi - I want to make this with figs, just wondering what the rough quantities of figs and sugar would be seen as figs already have a high sugar content? Thanks

question

Once made, what is the shelf life of the gin & does it need to always be kept refridgerated?

Hi, thanks for your question. The gin should keep for about a year (if it lasts that long!) and would be best kept in the fridge or at least in a cupboard out of the light. All the best, Barney
