3-D Paper Easter Eggs

folded paper easter egg craft on a tree

Carson Downing

Cut, fold, and glue cardstock in various hues and patterns for this 3-D Easter decoration idea. For each ornament, you’ll need 12 uniform paper easter egg shapes.

To make:

  • Fold each egg in half lengthwise. With the folded edges aligned, glue one egg half to another egg half with a glue stick.
  • Continue gluing egg halves together until all but the last two halves are connected.
  • To create the ornament, cut an 11-inch piece of string and tie the ends to create a loop. Hot glue the knotted end of the loop into the center of the egg shape, then glue the final egg halves together.

These hanging eggs are the perfect Easter decoration idea for displaying small figurines, trinkets, or candy. We found the cracked papier-mâché eggs at the craft store and covered the exteriors in chalk paint. We chose a different color for the interior of each egg. Once the paint dried, we filled them with gold faux grass and foil-covered chocolate eggs. Display the finished decorations on cut branches.

Cut a piece of cord or twine to the desired garland shape, then hot glue back-to-back paper butterflies every 3-4 inches.
