Hey fellas, I'm looking for L Model fire truck chassis parts. I am considering converting my hydrovac system (53 LS85) to air brakes. If someone has a L model that has an air brake system on it, I would be interested in It. I do not need sheet metal or body parts at this time as my truck is fairly complete but I have been attempting to locate a chassis that may have a bum motor but a complete air brake system, that I can salvage the brake system off of. I am hopeful of finding backing plates with cams and chambers, tanks and brackets, compressor for the engine, foot pedal, valves, gauges, and I am planning on running new poly lines. If anyone has or knows of any trucks, info would be appreciated. Second topic, I have a friend looking to unload a 63 c-85 (gas, air brakes, manual, 750gpm) pumper with 27,000 miles. The body is pretty solid however it has a botched paint job. The truck appears to be fairly complete with the exception of the bell. It has been stored indoors and the chrome it has appears pretty clean. Currently it has a snapped output shaft where the drive shaft goes to the parking drum. (Someone tried to move the truck with the shaft brake set and snapped it off), I am going to reach out to transaxle for a replacement. Other than that a set of batt's and she would fire right off. From what I have seen the truck saw service in Folsom PA. Open to offers. Thanks Guys!

Hey Fellas, I have a 1953 Mack L Model Types 85 pumper. I have had this truck for about 8 yrs now along with others. I am currently about midway thru a restoration and I am working on the hyd brake system. My question to everyone here is, has anyone ever had the idea of, know anything about, or ever wanted to place an older body on a more modern chassis in order to gain the more modern benefits, which in this case would be an air brake system. I know that they have made trucks in this year range that were air brake equipped even with a gas motor but as we know the trucks for parts in that configuration are not always that easy to come by. So I was kicking around the idea of placing my L model onto maybe a C model chassis........ OR Locating a l model that I may be able to salvage the complete brake system off of. I would assume that the axles were the same and the air brakes or hydraulic brakes would be the same. So thoughts folks would be appreciated. Thanks all

I am having a major issue trying to figure out why I am going way past 150psi. I bypass the drier and I tried endlessly to adjust the air governor with no luck. Can someone please guide me in the right direction.

Hi everyone. Im new here. First, I want to thank everyone for all the help in the past. There is so much good info on here Ive never had to even register, Ive figured it out from everyones discussions. My issue- I just picked up a 95 Mack CH613 E7-350HP has been sitting several yrs with bad clutch. New batteries got her fired up but it will run for approx 30 seconds and then shut down. Bump the key fires right back up with no hesistation. Can anyone help me? Just to tell all if it helps or not but the "electrical malfunction" light comes on, "brake pressure" comes on during that 30 sec. Also, air will not build ANY pressure, sounds like its leaking in steering column or possibly firewall, sounds more like its bypassing than an air leak because it wont build any psi and then power steering doesnt work at all during run time which probably has nothing to do with it but that it. Shut off and air might be two seperate issues but any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!!

Hi, everybody! I have a pair of DD3 chambers (24 sq in service / 17 sq in parking) I just removed from my '70 R600. The bellows on them need replaced, but the cans worked correctly when I removed them (08/23/12). I took the entire "octopus" of hoses off the rear axle as a complete unit when I removed it. So, the mounting brackets, tees, inversion valve, etc... are all there and intact. Pictues and pricing will be forthcoming. I need to research pricing a bit before I commit to anything. Actually, I have a post out there entitled "Spring Brake Upgrade" which has a few pictures of the system on it, if anybody's interested. I don't need them, and would prefer to sell the whole thing to avoid starting a pile of "junk" in the garage! So, the pricing will be reasonable, but not free! I mean, they're not "junk" by any means. But, they're not new either. I do not think these are '70 vintage, but rather have been rebuilt and replaced at some point in time between then and now. I understand these can be somewhat difficult to come by, and rebuilt ones can be pricey. Maybe these can help somebody get something going without having to fork out the dough for a new set. In the meantime, feel free to make offers or suggestions (be nice, Rob)! More to come... Kent
