My fire department has 1989 CF Mack Tower Ladder that back fires when it is not completely warmed up. The truck originally would top out at 52mph so we had the fuel turned up. Top speed is now 62mph which is plenty fast enough however, it back fires when the engine is not completely warmed up. When we take off out of the station, the engine is fine but as we go through town, the second that we let off the accelerator to slow down and then depress the accelrator again, it back fires. Does anybody have a clue as to why it would be doing this? Any help is appreciated!

Hey Fellas, I have a 1953 Mack L Model Types 85 pumper. I have had this truck for about 8 yrs now along with others. I am currently about midway thru a restoration and I am working on the hyd brake system. My question to everyone here is, has anyone ever had the idea of, know anything about, or ever wanted to place an older body on a more modern chassis in order to gain the more modern benefits, which in this case would be an air brake system. I know that they have made trucks in this year range that were air brake equipped even with a gas motor but as we know the trucks for parts in that configuration are not always that easy to come by. So I was kicking around the idea of placing my L model onto maybe a C model chassis........ OR Locating a l model that I may be able to salvage the complete brake system off of. I would assume that the axles were the same and the air brakes or hydraulic brakes would be the same. So thoughts folks would be appreciated. Thanks all

Hi, We are the Diamond Fire Company located in Walnutport Borough, Northampton County, Northeast Pennsylvania, just north of the City of Allentown. We are an all volunteer fire department in search for a Mack Pumper we use to own. In 1946 we purchased a new 500 gallon Mack pumper with a serial number of 45S1263 that was in service until June of 1969. This pumper was sold to Robert Martin of Martin Volkeswagon in Whitehall, PA to be kept as an antique. Mr. Martin has since passed and his children have no idea the where abouts of the Mack Pumper. We have been trying to locate the pumper for quite awhile and have had no success. If anyone should have or possibly know someone that would know information about this vehicle, please contact us.

I know this is a MACK site but I figured maybe one of you guys who know someone interested in this thing. A buddy of mine has this 84 Seagrave Fire Ladder Truck he is looking to sell. He bought it directly from the Fire Department last year when it came out of service. According to the Fireman at the Fire House the only reason they sold it was because due to age, they couldn't get the ladder recertified again but there was nothing wrong with it. Some specs: Detroit 6-71 550hp Allison Automatic 100' Arial Ladder with 96' Reach 8,700 original miles. I have no idea what else to list because this is out of my realm but its a cool truck indeed. I told him to show it in Macungie but he wasn't able to go that weekend. It just sits at his house. He is asking $16,900.
