2025 to bring in higher bridge tolls, transit fares across Bay Area
Commuters are starting 2025 having to pay more to get around the Bay Area as bridge tolls are increasing by a dollar, while BART and Muni fares are going up as well.
Bay Area bridge toll rise on 7 bridges to take effect in 2025
As 2025 dawns at the stroke of midnight tomorrow and Tuesday gives way to Wednesday, tolls will rise on several Bay Area bridges. Tolls will rise $1 on the region’s seven state-owned bridges beginning at 12 a.
It's Jan. 1 and Bay Area bridge tolls are now $1 more expensive
Starting Wednesday morning, most drivers crossing the Bay Bridge or any of the region's seven state-owned toll bridges can expect to pay an $8 toll, instead of the previous $7.
San Francisco Bay Area bridge tolls could go above $10 by 2030
Bay Area bridge tolls are already going up to $8 on January 1, 2025 for seven state-owned bridges. But in a meeting Wednesday, the Bay Area Toll Authority Oversight Committee will also discuss increasing tolls over a five year period starting in January 2026.
New Year rings in toll increase at 7 Bay Area bridges
The Bay Area Toll Authority (BATA) reminds drivers that tolls at the region’s seven state-owned toll bridges will go up by $1 next Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025. This will be the third of the three $1 toll increases approved by the California Legislature in 2017 through state Senate Bill 595 and by voters through Regional Measure 3 (RM3) in June 2018 which passed by 55.
