Jul 26, 2020 · Primatene Mist is literally epinephrine. You're shooting adrenaline into your lungs. You should be very wary of treating your asthma longterm with this. If epinephrine was a valid treatment for asthma, we'd all be on epinephrine inhalers already. It also doesn't stay effective as long as albuterol does.

Nov 24, 2019 · I always liked Primatene Mist. Supposedly Albuterol is "better" or "preferred" these days, but Primatene always had lots of fans who were devastated when they took it off the market. It's epinephrine (adrenaline) so you get a literal adrenaline rush from it. Might make your heart beat faster for a little bit. $29 at the drug store.

Apr 23, 2021 · Primatene is literally adrenaline. It doesn’t stay in your system very long. You should be using albuterol because it works better, lasts longer, and has far fewer side effects. If you are using your albuterol more than 2 or 3 times each week, you need to see your doc and get on a controller med.

On Thursday (March, 24th, 2022) my mom got me a primatene mist inhaler to try since I have really bad asthma. I got Covid at the beginning of the year and it made my asthma worse so she wanted me to try it out. Jun 8, 2020 · In that same scale, when I was taking Primatene over a period of 20+ years, I probably was around a 6 (somewhat controlled, occasionally attacks bad enough for hospitalization). Prior to Primatene, I was maybe around 8 (poorly controlled, multiple full blown disabling attacks a week) I haven’t had a real attack in over 25-27 years or so.

Oct 21, 2022 · I would say Primatene mist is a "better than nothing" option or a good back up to have on hand or for trips, but does not beat a regular prescribed inhaler as a better option. One thing to note is that a good amount of people do have bad reactions to this since you are literally just taking an adrenaline shot to the lungs.

Nov 20, 2011 · When I used it, my need for Primatene dropped dramatically. It's not a rescue inhaler, it's for controlling asthma. If my Primatene stockpile starts to run low next year, and no replacement is available, I may start using Advair again. Alternatively (or maybe in addition), I may start using Primatene tablets.
