Snow is expected to blanket huge parts of the UK on New Year's Day. Weather maps from Ventusky suggest flurries of snow will sweep across many areas of Britain on Wednesday, January 1.
The heaviest of the deluge is predicted for Yorkshire - but Scotland will see significant snowfall on New Year's Eve too. Temperatures are set to drop to a chilly -7C on Wednesday.
This is a 17C drop from Friday's 10.5C recorded in Drumnadrochit, Scottish Highlands, and an even greater plunge from the 12.1C in Lake Vyrnwy, Powys. According to Ventusky, snow could be heavy on Wednesday, particularly across West Yorkshire.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain and snow on Monday, December 30, and Tuesday, December 31. It covers most of Scotland, including Glasgow and Edinburgh.
These areas will also be impacted by snow into Wednesday. Tony Wisson, deputy chief meteorologist at the Met Office, said: "Wintry showers are likely to be a feature of the forecast as a cold northerly flow becomes established."
The snow will linger throughout Wednesday evening, potentially falling as far south as Wiltshire. It eventually will clear to the east, but temperatures will remain cold.
