Nursing 

BMCC Nursing Program offers students a comprehensive education and training to become registered nurses, including didactic coursework, hands-on skills training, and clinical rotations in various healthcare settings. They develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills essential for patient care. Additionally, students gain knowledge in anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and other healthcare-related subjects.  A degree in nursing will provide students with a solid career helping others.

BMCC Nursing has a day, afternoon, and evening/weekend nursing programs.  These options are design to support students who need flexibility to achieve academic goals.

Highlights of the Registered Nurse (RN) curriculum include courses in:

  • Medical-Surgical Nursing Care
  • Pediatric Care
  • Maternal-Newborn Care
  • Psychiatric Nursing Care

BMCC Nursing also offers a Practical Nursing Certificate (LPN)  program.

Support and Guidance

The Nursing Department works closely with BMCC students to make sure the support needed is available.  Services provides are tutoring, academic advisement/counseling by nursing faculty, and extensive library resources related to nursing.

The Nursing Skills Laboratory allows nursing students to practice technical skills and techniques through hands-on collaboration with faculty and peers.  Industry equipment and supplies are available for real-life experience in a simulation campus environment.

Our student nurse Extern Program will give you clinical experience in a hospital setting.

After graduating from BMCC with an Associate in Applied Science in Nursing, students are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).

Transfer Options

BMCC has articulation agreements with several schools in the State of New York and other states to allow a seamless transfer of your credits to a earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) has granted continuing accreditation to the associate nursing program with removal of conditions and affirmed the next evaluation visit for Spring 2027.
