Raising Awareness for Celiac Disease

We first found out that our daughter Angela (now 10 yrs. old) had Celiac disease   in August of 2013. As an Italian family we initially thought this was really a tragedy, but the more we read up on this disease, the more we found out about it. We now know that  Celiac Disease is linked to at least 400 different symptoms; if undetected and untreated, it can cause Cancer, Chron's Diesease and much more; but most importantly, that IT IS A GENETIC DISEASE, and we want everyone to understand that if you have it, it means that your closest relatives may have it too!
This is why it is very important to be tested and have your loved ones test as well. The only treatment for Celiac is a strict Gluten-Free Diet, and because there is so much to learn about both the disease and the diet itself, we believe that raising awareness is the only way to understand and help people take the right steps to detect the disease; which is often mistaken for other conditions.
