Vault 2024 in review: What happened to these missing persons?

The dozen-plus missing persons cases we profiled came from incidents over nearly a century, from 1938 to 2012.

A collage of photos centered on a partially blurry photo of a teenage girl, is surrounded by photos that include another photo of her, a mugshot of a young man, a lake cabin and a small excavator.
Belinda Van Lith was 17 went she went missing from a cabin on Eagle Lake near Monticello, Minnesota, on June 16, 1974. The Vault obtained her full law enforcement case file and worked with her family to better understand what happened to her, and track the crime-filled life of the neighbor boy turned main suspect in the case, Timothy Crosby.
