Congratulations are in order for Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi, who quietly tied the knot last weekend, per reports from The Sun. The pair reportedly got married in the United States, though little is known about their wedding location—or its details, for that matter. We do, however, know a bit about the guest list: According to the outlet, Jake’s parents Jon Bon Jovi and Dorothea Bongiovi were in attendance, as was the Stranger Things actress’ family. “Millie and Jake quietly said their vows in America last weekend,” affirmed an insider close to the couple. “It was a very low-key, romantic affair with their closest family with them as they said their vows.”
This intimate celebration, however, is just the start of their wedding journey. “They are planning a bigger ceremony in the US later this year,” the source continued, “but now they have legally married and done all the paperwork.” The couple, who has been together for roughly three years, announced their engagement in August 2023. Millie shared the happy news on Instagram, though she didn’t directly call out the fact that the duo had decided to take the next step. The black and white photo showed the couple holding each other on a beach, with her new ring front and center. Instead of announcing their engagement, Millie opted for a Taylor Swift lyric: “I've loved you three summers now, honey, I want 'em all,” she wrote alongside the image.
The couple’s families were quick to support the newly engaged couple—Jake’s family, in particular, has become extremely fond of the actress. “I’ve gotten to know her in the last year, she works really hard, and she and Jake will grow together in their own way,” the groom’s father explained at the time, per the outlet. He was quick to point out the similarities between his son’s relationship and his own (the legendary singer met his wife, Jake’s mother, when they were teenagers). “It is an accelerated version of what I went through 40 years ago and I think, with the support of family around them, they’re going to be great together.”
Both Jake and Millie have been forthcoming about the wedding-planning process, and have shared plenty of updates and intimate stories with their fans over the past few months. The most recent one, however, came from a source close to the newlyweds: Matthew Modine, who plays Millie’s on-screen father in Stranger Things. During an interview with Access Daily, the actor recently revealed that the couple asked him to officiate their wedding. “I have one of those licenses to get people married, and Millie thought it’d be great,” he told co-hosts Mario Lopez and Kit Hoover. “And then, Jake said it would be a great idea. So, I wrote the wedding vows, and they loved what I wrote for them to join hands and to become husband and wife. It’s such a beautiful thing to be able to join two people in holy matrimony.” It’s unclear whether or not Modine proceeded over the pair's intimate ceremony from last weekend, or if he’s saving his script for their larger celebration down the line; time will tell as more details from this celebration emerge.
It makes perfect sense, though, that Millie and Jake’s wedding will be a two-part act. The actress told Elle UK in March that she has thoroughly enjoyed the wedding-planning phase. “I have loved every second of it,” she shared. “It’s been really an unbelievable journey. Every time we have a new wedding meeting, Jake and I take a picture to capture the moment of the planning process. He’s loving every second of it. I haven’t been met with a stressful time yet, and I think that’s just a reflection on how ready and excited we are to do it.”
