Just a few months after Noah Lyles took home the bronze in the 200-meter track and field event at the 2024 Paris Olympics—despite unknowingly battling COVID-19 at the time—the six-time world champion is now celebrating another huge milestone in his life: an engagement to fellow Olympic runner Junelle Bromfield. On Sunday, October 13, 2024, the professional athlete revealed a sweet clip of the moment he got down on one knee, which happened the evening prior. Plus, he gave his followers an inside look of the romantic setup he planned, along with help from event coordinator Simi Visuals.

The sprinter announced the news in an Instagram post, which he collaborated on with his now-fiancée. “To My Future Wife I Will Love You Forever 💍,” his caption says. The video, which was shot by Michael Meiseles, begins by showing the setup: In a room, banners with photos of the couple and votive candles line a path of pink flower petals, which leads to a dreamy spot on the balcony at night. The walkway continues out on said balcony, where more pink flower petals, in addition to vases with pink flowers, fill the space.

Per the clip, the backdrop includes a pink heart-shaped floral installation that's suspended with a neon sign that reads, “Will you marry me?" A collection of white taper candles of varying heights in glass holders, plus pink blooms, white votive candles, and marquee letters with “Marry me” flanked the focal point.

The video then shows Bromfield, clad in a silver sequined gown, entering the space with her boyfriend. Once she realizes what the setup is for, she's seen beaming. Then, as Lyles gets down on one knee and pulls out the engagement ring—a moment that's captured in slow motion—Bromfield’s jaw drops. Once she says “yes,” the newly-engaged duo embrace and kiss one another before Bromfield slips on the diamond sparkler and holds it up for the camera to see.

Bromfield also shared the news on her Instagram feed, posting a clip of herself and her friends and family dancing in front of the heart-shaped backdrop before Bromfield struts toward the camera, quickly flashing her sparkly rock. “ENGAGED💍🥺,” she writes in her caption.

The Jamaican runner also followed up with an inside look at one of the couple’s text exchanges, revealing that Lyles predicted their marriage. "We were long distance best-friends," her caption notes. "Didn’t think we would ever get to really hang out until we were done with track but just look at US 🥺💍." In a shot of their texting conversation, Bromfield’s message reads, “Lol it’s kind weird though to be friends for so long n hardly ever been able to meet up. Look how close we are now and it still hard to meet.” After agreeing with that statement, Lyles responds, “Watch us get married after track lol.”
