The Dos Pesos coin or Two Pesos coin is a gold coin produced by the Mexican Mint, based in La Casa de Moneda de México in Mexico City. It is the oldest mint in the Americas – founded in 1535 by the Spanish colonists.
The gold coin was produced by the Mint between 1919 and 1920, and again between 1944 and 1948 – though no coins dated 1948 are known of. Since then the Mexican Mint have restruck a large amount of the 1945 edition Dos Pesos coins, ceasing this practice in 2009.
The obverse of the coin features the Mexican coat of arms, whilst the reverse features the date and coin value, flanked by a garland wreath.
