This prime rib recipe is juicy and extremely tender. It’s packed with flavor naturally and just needs minor seasoning to enhance the natural flavor.

Why is prime rib so expensive?

Prime rib is expensive because it is a desirable piece of meat. It’s also expensive because it only makes up a relatively small part of the cow, but a lot of people want this cut. Demand is high. Both of these things increase the price.

Since it is so expensive, you definitely want to cook it correctly and not waste your hard-earned money, right? Some people shy away from cooking prime rib afraid they’ll ruin it. You can do it, just always ere on the side of undercooked. You can cook it longer, but you can’t undo overcooked!

How much prime rib do I need?

Allow at least 6 ounces of cooked, trimmed meat per adult. Most notable, a boneless roast will have about two servings per pound, and a bone-in roast will have one to one-and-a-half servings.

Is prime rib and ribeye the same?

Both rib eye and prime rib are excellent steak cut options for different purposes. They’re both incredibly flavorful, have fantastic marbling, and are both prime beef options with just the right amount of fat to improve taste and texture. These cuts of steaks come from the same cut of beef. However, to be considered a ribeye, the steak must be cut before the roast is cooked.

For a much faster cooking method, try Air Fryer Ribeye. It’s a game changer!

Another celebratory meal is roasted lamb breast.
